I read that same thing on the home page. 🙂 WILD! All these companies are merging. Sprint-Nextel, Cingular-AT&T. What do you think will happen next? Tmobile-Verizon....THAT WOULD BE HUGE!!! They would be the top supergiants.

im not exactly sure what would happen next. the question now comes to what COULD happen next? meaning now since a lot of the players have merged or but out what will the doj, fcc, and the ftc do with future potential mergers. maybe if the smaller companies come together but i think tmobile will have a hard time. tmobile and verizon wont happen.

i guess time will tell.

a merger of this nature is not unprecedented. in Canada there is company called tellus they are a cdma carrier and a couple years back they bought MIKE, the Canadian carrier of iden. currently they are 2 separate networks with 2 separate plans but ran by the same company. now hear is the real kicker sprint has several technology sharing projects with many companies world wide. some of the bigger ventures are with the Canadian carriers specifically bell wireless and tellus.

this merger has been a long time in the making i am wondering if they are using tellus as a prototype.

the merger really does fit in with the history of the company though. for those of you who do not know they originally started out as a local telephone service in ...

Cingular + AT&T Wireless = The New Cingular
Sprint PCS + Nextel = The Next Sprint (Indepent or merged, they'll still suck as ever though)
Verizon + T-Mobile = Top of the world!

Verizon + T-mobile = doubtful

T-mobile + Alltell = more likely

Verizon + T-mobile could be construed as a monoploy, and the fcc and all those other groups would lay the smack down on them.

I could see Verizon trying to do it to get a grab on the GSM market. 😁 No, I know it's not feasible, but it'd be funny to see them jump ship on the cdma market.
