Does Sprint support GSM phones on there network?

I own a Audiovox SMT 5600, but AT&T is garbage. I've just canceled my service with AT&T and i'm stuck with the phone now.

Since I already have a plan with Sprint, I was thinking about just using the SMT 5600 on my sprint plan instead of using my old phone. Is it possible? Thanks.

😁 Absolutely NOT! Sprint is a CDMA carrier, they do not use GSM. Only T-Mobile, and Cingular now use GSM. Only thing that you could do is unlock the phone, and go to T-Mobile, since you left ATT Wireless which is now CINGULAR. Or, just get a new phone from T-Mobile, they have better plans, and better coverage. Sprint is crazy. Your bill will be SKY high, with charges that appear out of no where.

Yea, see that's the thing. Yesterday I called Sprint's Customer Service and asked if they support GSM phones on their network. The rep put me on hold for a few minutes and then told me GSM frequency is now supported by sprint. I wanted to check here just to make sure what she said was true. Because if it is, then i could use an unlocked GSM phone on the service, correct?

😳

Sounds like you got some bad info there. GSM is not supported on the Sprint network. Sprint is 100% CDMA with AMPS and other CDMA roaming partners.

If you want to switch to Sprint, your best bet would be to get a Sprint phone.

😁 That's one thing about Sprint. They give you bad info. Last year when my friend had them, they told her that since she was getting charged so much for going over her minutes, that she should sign up for the $60 plan for 800 minutes with Unlimited Nights and Weekend Minutes. So, she did, and when the next bill came her bill still showed her previous price plan, and we called them and they said that she never switched her plan, mind you she switched her plan due to the fact that a DIRECT SPRINT STORE REP. told her. They denied that. What a BUNCH OF LIAR SPRINT ARE!!!
