My favorite quote from the article:

Standard & Poor's lowered Sprint's debt rating to junk on May 1, saying the company could come close to violating its lenders' terms. Under its credit agreements, Sprint must keep its debt at 3.5 times earnings, excluding interest, tax, depreciation and amortization, over its most recent four quarters. The ratio was at 2.9 times earnings at the end of last quarter, up from 2.5 at the end of 2007.

Credit rating is JUNK!

You guys keep arguing that the losses aren't more than expected, but that doesn't seem to translate into good news.

Well, in all fairness, not everyone who is a customer of Sprint has junk credit. It's just that they are known for opening accounts for those who do. Part of Sprints financial problems are due to the number of defaults on accounts from those who won't pay their bill on time or at all.

You can jump my butt about saying this again or you can read the facts on it here:

Chief executive Daniel R. Hesse, who took over in December, said Sprint’s problems were more serious than he had anticipated and would take time to fix.

He said the company loosened its credit requirements last summer to attract customers with poor or little credit histories. Sprint ended the year with 53.8 million total subscribers, 700,000 more than it had in 2006. It made up for the loss of core monthly contract subscribers by adding less-lucrative prepaid and wholesale accounts.

“We have a lot of subprime customers in our customer base and we were disproportionately hit hard versus other carriers,” Hesse said.

subprime customers is such a nice way to put credit challenged losers who can't manage to pay their bills! 🤣 Good job sprint.

I posted that mainly because when I made that statement awhile back as part of Sprint's financial woes, people were accusing me of making it up. The housing industry did the same thing. Making mortgages to sub-prime customers who are now defaulting on loans. I know all about the sub-prime since the company I work for specializes in financing people with bad credit.

It's a very risky prospect even when the economy is good. Sprint should have left that market alone. There is a reason the other guys have a pre-pay option for those with bad credit.

What difference does any of that make to those of us on this forum? 😕

Unless you are an investor in the stock market and own shares of Sprint, none!

Look, people on this forum have Sprint for one reason: it works for them. Nobody here really cares that Sprint has a poor financial rating, that Consumer Reports and JD Powers don't like them, or that AT&T has the iPhone.

I personally have Sprint (Nextel) for one reason: where I work and live and use my phone the most, it provides me the best reception and coverage. Plus, at least 15 people I talk to on the phone daily have radio-only on their Nextel phones, including my mechanic. If I switched to some other carrier, I would lose the ability to contact these folks. Plus, since I'm get...

It shows what a crap company sprint is, pretty easy to understand that. Sprint has treated its customers like crap so when I read that Sprint is doing poorly..well I'm happy..they suck ass and they deserve their predicament.

You are a broken record. I post this stuff because it's NEWS. It should be of interest to Sprint users to see the direction that their provider is going in. You don't think it's of interest if they might get bought out by a another carrier? Or how it might affect services if they loose roaming agreements due to past due and unpaid debt? Or how Sprints means to saving money might affect their jobs with the company or the rates that the customers will pay for future services. What about them possibly not having the money to provide upgraded services that many here are looking forward to? What about the news that Sprint is looking to dump Nextel? You think those users aren't interested?

Just because you don't want to read anything about the...

No kidding! When you are a big enough fanboy to start discussion threads on how cool a Sprint TV commercial is then you have no cause to be talking about how "uninterested" people are in what I post...

I'd be ashamed of myself if I had nothing better to post than to carry on about "more bars in more places" in the AT&T forum... PTT = "Poised To Terminate" and chance of Sprint making a profit.... 🤤

But why do YOU care so much about Sprint? aren't you more interested in what's going on with AT&T?

You see, me, I could care less about what's going on over there, or on the Verizon forum or any of the others.

As far as how all of this will affect me, here's my position: as long as my service continues at the level it always has, and it continues working for me, then I will continue being a customer with Sprint. When it no longer is, then I'll cancel and go somewhere else. See? Very simple.

If TMobile buys Sprint out, then eventually, I'll be making out my monthly checks to them, provided my services continue as I've outlined above.

If Nextel gets sold off, it will be as a public safety network, meaning those of us who are Sprint...

Good for you. Glad you are happy. Please feel free now to ignore all future posts from me since they upset you so. If my post have no relevance to you, then don't read or respond to them. If you think my post are useless and ineffective in making any points of interest, then why are they such a threat to you?

If you are so obsessed on how, when, where and why I post, then perhaps you are the one in need of fresh air.

Why should there even BE any future posts?

Man, don't you get it?

Your posts don't offend me, I just can't understand why you are so fixated on Sprint when you don't even have them?

I also don't understand what you are hoping to accomplish by posting them, either. ...
