Mix 93's Ponch smashes his iPhone.

Rocket and Teresa in the Morning is a popular drive-time radio program on Mix 93.3 (KMXV-FM) in Kansas City. This week they’ve been talking a lot about our Samsung Instinct. Here’s the short version of the story:

Side-kick and co-host Ponch has had an iPhone for about a year and has talked incessantly about it.
Rocket bought our Instinct last week and started raving.
So Ponch said that he’d smash his iPhone if he got an Instinct from Sprint.
Mix listener (and Sprint employee) Katie Hunt thought we might want to take up the challenge, so she talked to Cindy Voss with our Entertainment Marketing team.
Ponch received an Instinct from us on Wednesday.

Yeah, like that doesn't reek of publicity stunt.. 🙄

Like the whole desperate move of "place an Instinct in your YouTube video and win money"...

Come on evilhomer. I can smell it from hear, and I'm no where near Kansas City.

The form of advertisment by Sprint is different, and stating Sprint is confident of their product and their network. So, Sprint is trying to reach as many people as they can, in every way: TV, YouTube, radio, web-ads, internet, word of mouth, etc.

A couple of goof ball radio personalities smashing an iPhone on the air, publicity stunt or not, doesn't really place a shadow on the fact that millions of subscribers quarterly are "smashing" their Sprint contracts and moving over to AT&T and others for a better wireless experience.

🤣 Everyone has their own story and experience with every carrier. The good and the bad. I had a horrible experience with at&t (long time ago), canceled service, and never went back. Get this, I had an employee rate (family member worked for at&t), and still canceled the service, due to the many mess-ups and horible customer service.

Better wireless experience with at&t? That's an opinion of yours that I respect, but you can't speak for everyone.

My personal opinion, a lot moved over to at&t for the iPhone, NOT at&t. I work for Sprint, and still drool over the iPhone. I've even thought of getting the phone myself. So, I know the iPhone has a HUGE impact for at&t.

True, but Sprint vs. all the others wasn't the point of my comment. Just that fact that it's a publicity stunt and they aren't going to win over or bring back customers by trying to convince people that the iPhone is trash. Apple haters tried to convince everyone the iPod was trash for years and it's still the number one selling MP3 player in the world. The de-facto standard by which are others are judged. To date, I haven't seen one device come out since the iPhone was WASN'T compared to the iPhone.

So instead of unsuccessfully trying to convince the masses that the iPhone is crap, why not try to convince them that Sprint itself is NOT crap. Something they haven't been able to do except with all of the already dedicated Sprint fanboys. ...

I agree with you to a point, and yes Sprint is losing customers, and is recognized by many. It's starting to sound like anti-Sprint propaganda, or a broken record. Sprint is loosing customers, Sprint is losing customers. Ok, Sprint knows, and is doing everything in their power to gain. So yes, Sprint is going to reach to millions, and have different tactics on winning new customers, and customers leaving Sprint.
At least Sprint is making a effort to gain, rather than sit there and lose. It's the previous CEO's that made poor choices for Sprint, and Sprint can see and feel the financial loses.
Also, any anti-Apple, Sprint, Verizon, at&t, etc. will find a way to bash on their product, network, technology, and feed to the public with their an...

even though it was a total PR move, all planned by Sprint.

A good one, however.
