FRIENDS' SPRINT ISSUES

I have some family friends who recently switched to Verizon Wireless from Sprint. Their contract with Sprint ended several months ago and was never renewed. However, Sprint keeps sending my friends a bill every month. What can my friends do in order to get Sprint to quit sending them bills for service they no longer use?

even though it hasnt been renewed, it will continue month to month if it is not actually called in and cancelled. just have them call our cust service and have that looked at.

if that's an "issue," then I'm amazed.

you'd be surprised about some issues our custys have... 😕

yesterday i had a gentleman call in asking why sprint has kept sending him bills when he canceled months ago. so i apologize to him and ask for his social security # being that if its canceled i couldn't pull it up by the numbers he previously had, meanwhile this whole time he is telling me that he and his wife are constantly arguing about this because of the numbers that sprint is saying he has. well the account finally pulls up and i notice sure enough he has these numbers on his account that are in a suspended status so i am like hummmm he may have a point here.... "ok sir i see that there are some numbers on this account, lets look into this a little further" i then go to the...

He said they had switched to Verizon.

I wonder if they ported their numbers with them.

Would it be possible for someone to not cancel, port their number away, and still be billed?

If you port your number it should cancel you're other account. So if they ported from Sprint to Verizon, the Sprint account should be closed. But if they went to Verizon and started a new account with new number and all, Sprint would have no way of knowing about them starting with a new carrier.

Aye, that much I was sure of.

So now I guess the question is did they port or activate a completely new account.

I would perhaps seek legal action. They seem to like billing but do not like issuing credits or canceling services without a major fight.

When you contract ends like in anything else, you have to call to cancel, or if you port your number it automatically cancels. I've heard on people making the same mistake, it's going to be hard getting it corrected. But with contracts you have to call to cancel, not just Sprint.

This entire thread is stupid. I guess Sprint is now supposed to be in the mind reading business.

Unless of course they ported away. Alas, we shall not know until the op comes back to respond.

tell your friends to actually call in and cancel. did you/they really think that if they just turned the phones off and didnt make calls, that that cancelled the service?

i'm actually not surprised that they thought this. i am surprised at how many people i get that think that once their contract is up, their service is shut off. no people. get a clue. why would any company do that? you just go month to month, unless you cancel. duh
