The new QChat... fad?

Personally I think it will be fading away just like the stupid Hybrid phones. Well, they're not completely useless to those that have terrible Nextel cellular coverage and need iDEN walkie-talkie.

The phones are sitting on the shelves mostly because QChat is not available in alot of markets. Unless Sprint is expanding the Rev. A coverage I don't see why people would choose this over Hybrid or regualar Nextel devices.

just my opinion.

...go sprint!

Sprint is expaning these markets ... 14 new markets were just added for a total of 56 if i remember correctly. I do not believe that QChat is going to be just a "fad" but a very serious work utility.

The problem is not with a lack of RevA, it's a lack of markets that will support the Qchat technology. Sprint pretty much has RevA in all of the markets where high speed internet is currently available.

Not to mention the big lack of interest in having a "walkie talkie" for a phone unless you are some kind of emergency responder or a construction manager acting like an orchestra conductor. Qchat is like a Bulldozer. Who really needs it except for a handful of the masses?

Already, most of the feedback I've seen on the Qchat devices is pretty bad.

I don't think your walkie talkie users out there understand just how annoying you are to the rest of us and hope that it is as big a failure as everything els...

Who said that direct connect was ever meant to be a solution for the average consumer anyway? Not everyone needs or wants an iphone, either. That's why there are a variety of different phones that perform different functions in order to meet different needs. The average person might not ever need a bulldozer either, but how slowly would things get done in life if the world was without them? I really love how that people who don't have something like to criticize it. Yes, there's such little interest in walkie talkie phones that Verizon is investing millions of dollars to develop a competitive product.

It depends what market your in as we have LOTS of Nextel/Hybrid/QChat sales.

Bashing Sprint like that is pretty low as i can think of many successes they have had ... and in no way shape or form was the Nextel branding a failure (if it was why on earth does the government want to get its sole paws on it ???).

Its more annoying having iPhone fanboys walk around aimlessly trying to show the world what phone they have when you just want to get to where your going but they are in the way. Hey ladies and gents ... if your trying to "pick up" someone with your phone not only does it look absolutely ridiculous and shallow but also think about the quality of person your getting if you actually do haHA (this especially goes out to you Hoboken/...
