Phone recommendation for teenager

I'm planning to get a new phone for my son for his 14th birthday and was just wondering which of the newer phones might be a good choice for him. He really doesn't make that many calls....he mainly uses it for texting and taking pictures (although he usually doesn't do anything with the pictures -- just shows them to ppl on his phone). Long battery life is probably a priority, as he has difficulty remembering to charge it. (Is there one that emits an annoying tone when the battery gets low, lol?)

Any suggestions would be appreciated. Thanks!

The rumor would be a good one, the new rant is suppose to be very comparable, and near the same price with more features. It should be out next month (depending when his b-day is)

Motorola phones make the most god aweful sound when the battery is running low, just thinking about it makes me shiver, weird but true. doo-doop, ehh

Samsung phones have near the same thing going for them.

Whatever phone you choose be sure to have the internet capabilities restricted or a vision pkg added to avoid casual data use charges. I would recommend to have unlimited text pkg added but to have "premium messaging" blocked. Premium messaging is like the commercial on TV "for joke of the day, text the word FUN to 55555". These can add up a lot of charges on the bill.
