I was selling a phone on ebay and listed the esn number on there,(i guess that was a mistake) and it WAS Clear and when the person got the phone, they said sprint said the esn was reported lost/stolen. I never reported it lost or stolen?

If it was a phone that you owned and used on your account, take it to a corporate store. They can look up its history and submit a request to remove the lost/stolen flag. That takes a few days but then it should be clear.

Funny thing, I just went through this very same thing.
1. don't believe everything people on E-bay tell you.
2. Call Sprint yourself and tell them you've got a ESN you'd like to get the status of.

They are VERY innacurate. Based on my experience the chances of getting the truth are about 50/50. The best way to find out if an ESN is clear is to try and activate it on sprint.com . Guessing they are just trying to sell the cust a phone & make their commissions? I wouldn't be surprised since I used to work at a Sprint store & saw some of the BS different people pull (in the store and on the phone...)

If it comes up with "confirm your phone" it's clear.

We have actually had people call in and try to activate phones & CS will say it's ...
