Open Network

I have four lines with Verizon Wireless and I want to switch to Sprint. I called Saturday to ask when they are going to open the network so that I can port my numbers to Sprint AND use my existing phones. The telesales guy was like "You cannot use your phones but we can get you new phones..." Really? An 8330, an 8130, a 6900 and an LG-8100 (mom's phone which Sprint never carried) all for ZERO dollars? Because brother that is ALL I am willing to pay. Nada, zilch...absolutely nothing. So, I politely listened but then said no thanks because I already knew they aren't going to match what I have. But seriously, does anyone have any idea when Sprint is going to open their network up so that I can use my phones?

Wait are you saying, that you have all those pretty phones and you are not happy with V-dub? I bet it has something to do with the Blackberry packs that they charge you for.

When you get your phones over to our network, your internet will not work, maybe for the 6900 if you flash the rom and change some some of the network preferences, maybe.

My advice, if you're looking to come over and save some money per month, we will most likely (99% sure)will be able to port your numbers and transfer your contacts from your old phone, but I suggest to get a Sprint branded phone so you will have all your capability's that you will be paying for since you have two blackberry's. But you can get back some of your money by putting the old ones on eBay...

Plus the fact that the phones are brand new. Not "hand me down" phones. And complete package. 😉

If you could bring your phones over to the Sprint network, it'd be very likely the same thing would happen that happens when you flash a CDMA phone over to Cricket... which is that you would probably be limited to Phone Calls and Text Messages & non-internet features, since the phones software was not originally intended for the network.
