The 850 is just a refresh of the 800w and who wants an i9 when the v950 is already available?

Well, lets see. It may be a refresh of the 800, but it does have a letter look.

AND the i9 will appeal to those we dont have Rev A covorage and need the Direct Connect but want a stylish, better looking device. I give props to Sprint and Motorola for finally coming out with iden devices that look like they were made in this century.

Listen, I have the V950, and I would love to have the i9. I've been watching this phone for a year. Originally it was call the Cabo, now it's the i9, but that's not the final name yet. This phone is a iden only with a higher res camera and a keyboard that lights up as you go through different menus.

And who dosn't like a cooler looking phone, better memory, improved software and increased features?

No, Ray isn't dumb, he just likes to rile people up. He's damn good at it, too.

iDEN only = you're screwed if you travel off the Nextel network. Even if I travel off Sprint's CDMA network and don't have access to the HPPTT, at least I can still make/receive voice calls since the V950 is dual band. Let's not forget that the voice services of iDEN are based on the archaic TDMA platform.

WiDEN data access = Slugs run faster than a data session with on the WiDEN network. The V950's 1xEVDO Rev A can't be touched even when 1xRTT is only available.

You know what drake, I'm the waiter and you just got served.

I have the V950 and love it!

That said, there might be other reasons someone would consider a traditional Nextel phone over Sprint.

Overall though, CDMA is superior than iDEN. I think that's why John Garcia walked. Danny Bowman's department is going to get more funding now that Dan Hesse has committed Sprint to the iDEN network as well as the various Nextel products and services instead of being astute and trying to sell off it.

From a consumer viewpoint, it doesn't matter which system is superior if it doesn't meet your needs. That's why Sprint continues to offer both products and has committed itself to its iDEN network until at least 2012.

There's other iDEN handsets coming out real soon. Last that I saw, was 6 new phones. All Moto iDEN of coarse. Not too sure if it was another smart device for iDEN, but it had a full (slide up) QWERTY keyboard.
