New Customer How do I Handle This?

I'm with Tmo now using a BB Flip and Hotspot@home. I want the Pre when it comes out, and will also need Airave.

I called Sprint Monday and they said my credit was approved, gave me a confirmation number. By the time the Pre comes out I'm afraid that could change.

Can I sign up now and somehow defer the start of my contract?

If I switch now I will need a phone that has Telenav (for work). I have a gps puck I use with the Flip and Mapquest Navigator.

But I want the contract price for the Pre, and can't afford to pay full price for a new Sprint BB, and an ETF to Tmo.

i will tell you from what happened to me when i was first going to sprint i got the phones on sprint.com and they messed up my order i canceled the order as instructed by the telesales rep and wait till the money was put back in my account again as instructed from that time frame i went from having no deposit for 2 lines to have a 150 deposit for each line beaware that every time your credit is ran/check it drops in points if you have a great credit score not just ok like mine then i would wait until the pre comes out

Your application is valid for 30 days. After that, a new one will be ran. What I would do, is get the application number, visit a local Sprint store. They will call their Sales Support staff to create a "Shell Account" meaning they'll use the application number, ask you to create a PIN number and Security Question and ask your personal info again to match the original application, and give you an ACCOUNT number. Once the pre comes out, simply give them the account number. That way they dont re-run credit, and your application wont expire in 30 days! 😉

Super info thanks. I called a local store today, and the rep seemed to think Sprint had created an account for me already because I had a number. But the guy in Manilla didn't create a PIN or security question, so I follow you. The rep also didn't seem to know that an account would lock in my credit approval.

This allows me to keep Tmo and a phone I'm happy with until the time comes for the Pre, without shelling out monthly fees to Sprint yet. Thanks again, and JL9000 too.

I managed to get customer care in Manilla to do this for me. After a few disconnects I got them but they had no record of my SS# and said the APP # was not accessible to them.

But he did run my credit again, obtaining the same results. I got a pin and a security question, and a 9 digit account #. I'm told I am locked in till the Pre release, like you said. Thanks.
