So let me see if I've got this right?

Sprint unlocks the GSM side of their CDMA/GSM phones, right?

Now the carriers in my area consist of VZW,ATT,TMO, and Sprint/Nextel.

ATT & VZW charge a small or rather large monthly fee plus per minute rates for international roaming. TMO just charges per minute international roaming rates...OUCH! 😲

Now Sprint factory unlocks their GSM capable phones allowing you to use a prepaid SIM from where ever your going internationally, saving you a ton of money.
So why doesn't Sprint capitalize on this price point and advertise it a little more? 😕

I know Sprint offers international packages too (although seemingly shooting themselves in the foot). And if you do it the way I suggest you wouldn't...

The Sprint CDMA/GSM wireless devices do not work in North America as the GSM network is 850/1900 MHz where as these particular devices are built with 900/1800 MHz GSM which is deployed pretty much everywhere else outside North America. If you were to get a at&t and/or T Mobile quad band (850/900 & 1800/1900 MHz GSM) wireless device unlocked and took it overseas, all you would have to do is go to one of the wireless carriers in the country you are in and just buy a prepaid SIM.

Yes, but you should be able to to the same with Sprint's world phones, right?
So why don't they advertise that, oh wait then they'd loose money from people not signing up for a international roaming package.
