Okay peeps, I'm looking to get a new phone, and soon, but I need some advice on what I SHOULD get, not just what is cool. So I'll qualify my situation for you guys and then you can give me any and all advice that you can/are willing to give.
First off, I live in an older building, and I have found that for some reason at times my older Sanyo 8300 gets better signal in my apt than does my current phone, a Samsung M520, at times I have to go outside in order to make/answer phone calls, and that is with whatever phone I have.
Also, I have a very sweet plan from my time working for Sprint, and I've made it kinda clear that I'm not giving it up, and Sprint has told me that I don't have to in order to get my upgrade, which is fine by me. It ...

I personally like the LG Lotus, or the Sanyo SCP2700 myself. Check them out, they are affordable, and get good reviews.

Receptionwise, It think every phone is like that from here on. The reason why, is your Sanyo is a tri-band phone which I was reading an article somewhere that uses alot of the Analog signals. Since theyre getting rid of the Analog signals, theyre not making anymore Analog capable phones. All phones right now are Digital. So, even if you get a Sanyo you could very well be experiencing the same. AiRave is AWESOME. With that $15 plan it really does increase signal, and im not sure if they told you but you also get Unlimited calls within that "bubble" of signal that is created in your home. So since you said you have an old plan, im sure that should be pretty cool. But hey, my honest opinion is if you plan on getting the AirRave get whichever ph...

Yeah it IS because of the Analog. Your 8300 works on AMPS as well as Digital. What Analog offers better, is coverage wherever a Digital phone wont. BUT, AMPS phones submit more radiation, as well they take up more battery life that other phones. Digital phones have clearer sound, and provide more details. This is just an informative add-on to the post i wrote just above.

sorry i meant to put they offer more features, not more details lol ðŸ¤

Sprint, Thanks for the info. I might get the Airave first, then get the phone later just because my signal would be that much better in my place and might easily take care of my problem for the time being

Well peeps, with things going at my job the way they are, I'm debating whether or not I should make any kinda move at this point. I'm definitely considering the Airave but ONLY adding the $5 a month for the extended coverage because i don't use anywhere NEAR my alottment of minutes every month. (I get 3000 and I think the most I've used recently is 500 some)
So I think the Airave might be the choice of the new generation for the time being, even though it'll syphon off some of my bandwidth on my computer/Xbox, but I can always turn it off if I need to for the time that I'm on Xbox Live. LOL
I've gotta make some kinda decision soon though because I'm pretty much tearing my hair out trying to get better signal and walking outside sucks.....

Dude, AMPS has nothing to with the quality of signal a phone will pull. It doesnt exist anymore, so it is of no importance.
The fact is, sanyo in general holds signal better (with the exception of the 2400/3100 series.)
Get the eclipse, it will probably do better at signal strength... or look online for an 8400, basically the 8300 with EVDO and Memory card slot.. really nice phone.

the exclaim is definitly a big step up from the m520, I currently have the exclaim, and it's great as far as service goes. my wife has the sanyo katana LX, and mine gets better service.

Well there is some phones I would stray away from if I where you. I work as a sprint csr for high frequency callers so the phones I would stay away from is the samsung m800 or instint witch both the new and old ones are pieces of crap, the htc touch proes do also seem to have this crazy issue where they will shut off randomly and opening the keyboard will freeze it, palm pre is all right is still buggy if you are looking for a basic phone the exclaim is awsome my sister has it its pretty nice but for what's its worth you may want to wait we are realing the touch pro 2 very soon, the blackberry are all good on the sprint network and if you need anything else on anyphone I can give the info anytime and the issues that may be plauging the phones...

Alright peeps, I first off wanna thank everybody who chipped in some advice on the phone decision. It was a rough decision but after talking to Sprint's customer retention department I managed to get $50 off a new Exclaim to keep my service with them and didn't have to change my plan or anything. The service with the new phone is amazing. I have not had a dropped call yet on the new phone, and to be honest that's so refreshing to me.
So yeah thanks to all, I appreciate the help greatly

Good to know!! Glad we could help out 😉
