Random Sprint question about switching my phone number
I am looking to switch my phone number to a specific Sprint number that is not currently being used. I know its a number owned by sprint because I checked Telcodata.us, and I know its not in service because when I call the number, I get the message "the number or code you dialed is incorrect." I called customer service a few times to switch my number to that number but the rep tells me they cant change my number to a specific number because the system does it randomly. I know a sprint rep helped my friend (that also has sprint) and allowed him to pick the number he wanted. What department or phone number do I have to call to get this number I want?

Many moons ago Sprint would allow you to get a vanity number for an added fee. Does anyone know if this is still the case?

As far as I konw there isn't any way to pick your number anymore. I could be wrong but I have tried to get a select number for a customer before with no luck.

pick them we have one button to click that changes the number, we have no choice of what you get. If you had the number before it might be possible to recover it but thats the only case

This is the correct answer. We cannot choose your entire phone number. If you have a Sprint phone we can choose your area code. If you have a Nextel phone we can choose your area code and prefix.

there was a way to request a vanity number on sprint lines only but that ablility was taken away a couple months ago, sorry about that.

More than a couple months ago...I have never been able to do that as a care agent and I've been working for Sprint for almost 2 years 😛

It's been years. I've heard that number portability killed the option to choose your own number. I could be wrong.
