I switched on the 4g on my evo last night... just for gits and shiggles and lo and behold I had a weak signal in pleasant hill ca. My office is in Concord (about 5 minutes away) and there is a solid signal here and, as near as I can tell, throughout concord.

I've been getting between 400 and 800 kilobytes down and about 100 up all day long.

So if you in the sf bay area it may behoove you to check you phone. You may have some nice unoficial wimax.
