Buyout Regulations

Darth Ridiculous

There was a locally owned carrier in my hometown that was recently bought out by AllTel. AllTel informed people with this company that they had til 12-11-05 to (1) sign new alltel contracts and buy new phones or (2)port out their number to another carrier to avoid 200.00 deact fee. However, at least one corporate account tells me that their contracts were honored. NOW, my question is, wouldn't that be illegal or something? Dont see how AllTel can treat customers different in this way. What I feel possibly happened was the rep who handled the switchover with this particular acct. possibly didnt let them know of ALL of the changes, maybe including plan pricing. This is a large plan (227 phone lines to be exact). The rep could have shaped up hi...

It makes sense to me that rules could be bent when you're dealing with corporate accounts. Meaning 1 line x $50/mo = $50, 227 lines x $50ea/mo = $11,350. Tough sh*t to the individual, they'll have to follow policy...

what has actually happened here turns out to be EXACTLY what i thought, according to the alltel area manager of all people!!! He said, in a phone call i personally made to him "inquiring" about how this works, he told me that wether it be corporate or individual, the policy on this is the same. HOWEVER, the person at the corp. in question has told me, after offering services from sprint and 50.00 porting credit per line totalling 11,350 big ones PLUS a better per-minute average rate than alltel, that he was led to believe pricing would remain as set by the former carrier. Sounds like misrepresentation and an easy, VERY easy out on the alltel contract.

now, would you approach said company and inform them of what you learned and possibly sound like someone trying to steal business or would you sit back, when they get their bill that is 40000 higher than any month out of the last 8 years and hope they call? I would REALLY like a 227 line sale, I could take the rest of 2005 off! 😁

Business reps do have the ability to make deals with large corporations and they have their own reps that personally handle these accounts and not in the typical retail setting. A business account is treated like a bulk buying from any type of company. Now as a rep in a retail store I do know business reps down here have the ability to do a lot of things I cannot do. If this rep actually has seriously made promises in the contract that cannot be backed I GUARANTEE he will be out of a job because Alltel is very proactive in this situation.

NO problem buddy. Alltel is a very good company and I do not want you to get the wrong idea about them. Not that you want to hear this b/c I know you want a sale, sorry, but I do hope everything works out for your friend/associate. If he does have a problem he can go above the reps head and well like I said the company does not take this gently and your buddy will probably in some way get what he was supposed to. If you have any more ????'s bring them to me. Have a good night buddy.
