So What will happen when FCC will no longer require cellular carriers to provide analog? What company will this hurt the most?

Hurt Company? I do not think any of the companies will be hurt by not having to provide analog service. If anything it will the the customers who live in remote areas that will be hurt the most.

It will save the companies money not having to provide coverage where they do not want to.

That is the dumbest thing I have ever heard. It will hurt the CDMA carriers most if they do not replace the analog only areas with digital coverage because they will lose subscribers to another carrier that has coverage there.

It is not a question of a carrier not wanting to provide coverage in an area as they all want coverage everywhere....they just build from most dense population to least.

I think most carriers would be happy. It'll free up ALOT of spectrum because analog is very inneficient. There are very few people in only-analog service areas. I don't think it'll be that big of a loss for any carrier.

How is that dumb? If you have to do something and the regulation is dropped and you no longer have to do it, but you can and want to. Why would you stop, just to lose money?

By then there will be very few if any analog only areas left. Here is my opinion for what it's worth:

Sprint and T- Mobile have no analog so for them the point is moot.

Cingular will have converted all of their IS-136 customers to GSM/UMTS so thre is no negative effect.

Verizon is already prepared to turn off analog. Thay have close to 100% of their network as CDMA so the effect will be minimal.

US Cellular and Alltel still have a lot of analog only areas where towers generate very few minutes of use per day. The effect will be minimal but not disastrous since no other carriers cover those areas. Keep in mind that these areas for them are places 99% of us have not heard of such as Chemult, Oregon and Dorris, California. Also some...

I think all 14 analog only customers nationwide might get a little ticked, but i dont think it will be enough to hurt a company. What are they gonna do? Change service?? 🤣

It will not hurt them at all. They will not be required to provide analog. This doesn't mean that they can't still provide it if they want to. This gives the cell phone companies more freedom, and like other people said, will free up spectrum.
