Signing up for sprint, 8200 vs. VGA1000, vs. 4050
I'm about to switch from Verizon to Sprint and get a new phone. Currently using a old Star Tac. Only dead zone I've had in 5 yrs is along Sand Point Way along Lake Washington. The phone always goes into analog mode and sounds like crap. Occasionally at home the phone will not ring but a voice mail will come through a few minutes later. I've heard Sanyos work great with Sprint, but Costco has the 4050 for $99 and includes the acc. pack (car charger, case, and head phone) or VGA 1000 $49 and acc. pack. No Sanyos at Costco, rep said that Sanyo could not gaurantee suply. Went to the Sprint store and chewed the fat with the rep there about the different phones sold etc. He'd give me the 8200 for $99 and a $50 service card. As the VGA1000 and 8200 are the same price in the Sprint store and in a attempt to match Costco on a phone Costco does not carry. Sprint rep is a good sales person, but no accesory kit.
I'm looking for an upgrade to my antique Star Tac. Compared to the newer phones did Star Tacs have good reception?? dont care about PTT but like the camera and speaker phone. Would like to play games. 4050 video does not sound like its good. But has a great screen.
I've read reviews at different sites and am still undecided. I'll be switching over July 1st. Am wondering if I'm missing anything.
To me feature wise for what I'm looking at they equal out, I dont care about PTT, well I'm not interested in paying an extra $10 to do the nextell thing. And I dont care about the vid thing either. So I'm paying an extra $50 for a big screen with the 4050 and get all accs. But not many games to play on it??? And is the reception good on the Toshiba in the Seattle area or forget it and pick up the Sanyo??
