Moto Q on CDMA

Looks like the rumors of the Q being cancelled for GSM were potentially bogus. It now looks like Moto is planning on releasing to CDMA first (Verizon for sure).

What do you think Sprint will do. Now that the Nextel merger has been done, and the rumors of Sprint and Motorola renewing hardware interests, is the Q a part of the near future for Sprint/Nextel on their CDMA network?

yes. motorola and sprint/nextel will probably renew a friendship. as far as i have been told that is true and the Q will be apart of it as well as other motorola type phones that will be used especially the dual mode and others.

Well, I'm interested in a PDA Phone. Blackberry has the legal issues, plus Spring may be awhile before the see the 8700. The Treo software issues have me worried. Wizard is too big. I'm still looking for a device which has good voice capabilities and then a decent PDA functionality with a full QWERTY. I've always liked Sprints service and its great where I live/work, so I don't want to swicth carriers unless its last resort, but I'd like to see Sprint step up in the PDA/phone surge as they seem to be lagging somewhat.

well, yes the blackberry seems to be having legal problems but I think they will overcome it. I actually have a blackberry and I am not worried at all because I think they will do everything they can to make the possible injunction go away. Remember, if there is an injunction and then no settlement, NTP will not be receiving any royalties from the last suit that they won nor this one, so I think it is in the best interest for them to settle. I also saw some other legal reasons they have and I think blackberry makers (rimm) have some great points.

Nonetheless, I do not like the PALM especially in the United States when comparing it to the Blackberry.

So you want a PDA phone? Hmm. I am not sure what is in your budget but take a look at ...

The PPC6700 is too big for me. Like I said, my main function is using the device as a phone, then PDA. I'd give up Wi-Fi for better battery life, as the majority of my data usage would be email, web browsing, IMing. I just think the first wave of PDA phones from last year were all PDA focused, and a lot of the complaints have been about how the voice functionality was forgotten/ignored. The 2nd time around it looks like manufacturers are trying to address that and improve the software glitches for the PDA side of it as well. What's your take on the Moto Q vs. Blackberry 8700? Like I stated, I want to stay with Sprint, and the Q is probably closest to coming out for them instead of the BB 8700, right?

Hmm. Yea, I thought that the PPC might not be that great for you, however, you mentioned you wanted a PDA and a phone so that PPC will accommodate those needs. The Motorola Q and the blackberry 8700? They both are terrific phones/pdas and I think either one would give serve your needs. If you are worried with the whole blackberry legal situation, then I would get the Motorola Q, however, if you aren’t so worried, I am not worried and I have a blackberry, then I would get the blackberry 8700 because I always felt that blackberry is a premier pda/phone in this country. I cant say what company will be getting what, but I can say if the blackberry 8700 will be for sprint, then I would say get that, but if it doesn’t and the Motorola Q will be...
