IDENTITY THEFT SCAM ALERT; READ THIS PLEASE

Dear all:

A friend of mine recently recieved a call on his T-Mobile phone from someone claiming to be from T-Mobile. My friend posted what happened on his livejournal:

"I just got a call on my cell phone from somebody claiming to be from T-Mobile and claiming to offer me a rebate. Being the suspicious person that I am, I noticed that something didn't sound quite right about the situation. He asked for my name and social security #, which I did not give. I pressed the caller for information (ie his supervisor's name, and how he had my address), and he hung up, knowing that the scam was up.

So if you're a wireless customer and get a call from an unidentified number from somebody claiming to be from T-Mobile, hang up on them, or bette...

Definitely need to be careful if someone *calls you* claiming to be your carrier (or whoever if they're asking for that kind of info). Thanks for the post, lefteyeiu2006.

Well, for one, your carrier in most cases already has your social. Second, T-Mobile needs to secure people's phone numbers a little better. I have a couple friends who have been getting unsolicited sales calls on their T-Aint-Mobile phones
