If you're out of contract you can go month to month as long as you want. Or get pre-paid. other than that you just have to fulfill your contract unless you want to pay the cancellation fee

You can sign up with Sprint going month to month. You just don't get a discount on the phone and you used to have to pay $10 extra. I am not sure if that still applies.

Also once your two years runs out you can go month to month for as long as you want. However if you want to upgrade your phone or change your plan you will have to resign.

The only way you can do month to month is if you do it after you contract expired, I've been doing month-to-month for the last 3 years.
