I went to best buy and tried to get an account with sprint under my name. I used my old address. She did a credit check and it was fine, but when she went to activate the phone the sprint rep onthe phone told her that i had to wait 12 hours for my credit to go thru. But i went to Radio Shack and they activated my phone in 15 mins. And i used my new adresss. So 2 weeks into my service i get a letter in the mail to my old address saying my credit wasnt good enuff 4 their service. This was a confusing situation and i wanna know what happened. Did this happen to any1 else?

The mailings are automated (afaik) and basically just say that you weren't approved for the very best credit class in the Sprint system (even though you were approved for service). I heard it was due to some new law regarding running credit checks but I'm not 100% sure how it works. Don't worry about the letter though, your service is not going to change.

A little more detail on that

The letter states that you ran a credit check and you were a proved for service under the clear pay plan. It gives reasons for this decision and which credit reporting agencies were used.

Clear pay just means you have a spending limit on your account (usually $125, $150, $200, $250, or $600). All that means is if the total amount of charges on your account (billed and unbilled) reaches the set amount, your phone is disconnected until you pay the bill below the amount.

If you purchased the service the letter really doesn't mean anything.

So that took 12 hours? Because when i was at bestbuy, the lady was talking to a sprint rep and she told her that it would take 12 hours.

I'm not sure why they said it'd take 12 hours, i've never ever heard anything of the sort. then agian i work in our retail store and not for best buy heh. but as for the letter, they need to reword that ****, i've had quite a few pissed off people come in when they get it thinkign they are going to have to return everything.

activations dont take long to do other than having to wait at the stores for a couple hours ;).

If your going to activate a new line I'd recommend a Sprint store (long ass wait) or go to a Radio Shack which calls our customer care and we give them the codes through the FAST system that they use. Phone wait might be 10+ minutes but it beats hours at the store. Keep in mind that RS and BB dont have all the phones that a store might have but the basic crappy phones everyone does =).
