stupid question about the evdo connection card

I noticed that if you call the number that is assigned to the connection card it rings through and then goes into a voicemail box. Is there any way to retrieve the messages that are left on that voicemail box?
I also was wondering, it states in order to set up the vm box you must call from your sprint pcs phone; Could I have the esn swapped to an old phone of mine, then set up the vm, change the esn back to the connection card and be able to access the vm from another phone?

I appreciate any help anyone can provide

I don't think swapping the esn would be any problem, but one thing to keep in mind would be that with connection card plans, voice calls are $.20/min. If you were going to swap esns as well, just make sure that all your codes are intact, because the system will sometimes automatically update codes when esn swaps are done. Usually not when going from 3G to 2G or EVDO to 2G, though, but still just have the rep double check the codes. Other than swapping the esn, you can plug a headset into the connection card if you have one available. then press the drop down arrow next to the menu button on the connection manager, dial your pcs number, and click Talk (not Go). That should let you access your VM to set it up. After that, you can get to your V...

I was looking at my card the pc-5740 and I cannot find a headset jack in the card, so I am assuming this card does not have voice capabilities.
As far as the esn swap, if the other phone was an evdo 6700 would that help ensure the transition went as smooth as possible?
Thank you very much for your help.

Yeah, the 5740 doesn't have voice capabilities (had to double check that. 🙂). If you swap to the 6700, it should be fine. Still make sure your plan is intact when you swap back, and keep in mind the provisioning delay when you do esn swaps (up to 2 hours for voice, up to 4 hours for data). And even when you call voicemail to set it up, the $0.20/min still applies, so be prepared for that. Calling from another phone to check voicemail messages will not carry a charge, though.
