you must be on some nice stuff lol..

this is the order

1. Cingular= 54.1 million
2. Verizon= 51.3 million
3. Sprint/Nextel= 47.6 million (could be more because of recent purchases of affiliates)
4. T-Mobile USA= 21.7 million subscribers

so 21.7 million is more then 47.6? hmm.

Sprint and Nextel are still running separate

for craps sake they aren't even the same network! How can you lump their subscribers together!

well not really, and not based on numbers and total subscribers... cingular added attws numbers as soon as the merger was closed...

why cant you? it is owned by the same company whether it is on IDEN or CDMA. it doesnt make a differnce.

Because Cingular didn't sell ATT products after they bought them out.

Sprint still sells Nextel

so for arguments sake their numbers should be split

i understand, but they arent seperate entities.. they are 1 company... their networks are seperate but every subscriber they add under IDEN or CDMA is counted as the total subs.

so by your logic are you saying that Cingular should separate thier GSM, TMDA, and old Analog into separate numbers? That makes no sense. Plus, post merger, blue devices and plans were still being sold for a time so your assumption would be incorrect.

47.6 mil / 2 = 23.8 mil
therefore, no matter how you split it, either Sprint PCS or Sprint iDen/NEXTEL has more subscribers than T-Mobile's 21.7 mil And as was pointed out, that does not include the recently aquired affiliates
