$36 ESN SWAP FEE? WTF?

I was reading a previous post and I noticed about the $36 esn swap fee, maybe I missunderstood. So basically every time you get a phone from ebay or decide to change your ESN you will get smacked with a $36 dollar charge? is this accurate?? that would be down right dirty from sprint since their upgrade eligibility program just SUCKS to begin with.

Can someone who is knowledgeable or work for sprint answer this?

Thankies!

That is why GSM is the way to go... just swap out the SIM... 😁

yeah, unless you upgrade your phone in store, and they will charge you with an upgrade fee also.

and, btw, most of the time you will not be charged a 36.00 upgrade fee because you have a walk in esn. only when you upgrade in store.

No, if customer care says they're going to charge that, just go to a store. I've never seen anyone get charged a fee for bringing in their own phone.

that's certainly a relief if they don't charge that everytime you change ESN's.
Like I said before .. sprint's upgrade program blows as it is.

sprint's upgrade plan is the same as everyone elses... 12-24 months, the longer the phone, the larger the discount, add a data pack, two year renewal, and pay an upgrade fee... SHABLAM! you have a new phone!

How can you say our upgrade program sucks! At Cingular for example, if i change my plan, move my number... I am immeadietly no longer eligible for any kind of discount on a phone! All Sprint requires you to do is keep the phone for two years (or be sure to get it replaced through one of the warranty programs if it's damaged) and you are eligible! Way more friendly than any of the other companies. 🙄

yeah sprint needs to look at this deal. I had a customer activate the junky cdm105 one day last month, didn't like the phone at all and 2 days later, WITHIN THE CANCELLATION PERIOD NO LESS, came and bought an 8300. I had to call in to do the swap cuz they were business customers (we use FAST) and can you believe the rep told me there was a 36.00 fee?????? I disagreed with her and it turned into darn near a full blown shouting match! I told her "fine, what would you do if I told you they wanted to cancel over this stupid fee"? and she TRANSFERRED ME TO CANCELLATIONS!! 😳 Was a good thing though, cuz the rep there knew better than to even cancel it over that and clicked the button "waive 36.00 upgrade fee". This fee is FOR UPGRADES ONLY! not ...

woah! Thank God! I was considering leaving sprint for this reason alone, been with them too long and Verizon is too pricey in my opinion. can't beat the play I have with sprint, that is for sure! I've had this PM-535 for 6-7 months and I can't upgrade until November and if I decide to get another phone through ebay or whatever it will just re-start the whole waiting period. I guess they want to have you by the balls so they don't have to put out $$ for you to upgrade huh?

Sprint charges processing fee for UPGRADE 🙄 Is it not like Verizon? The customer is ready to extend the contract with phone purchase (giving business) and Sprint charges for that 😲 I think that's the Sprint way to treat loyal customer!!!

no the way we treat loyal customers is by giving them free stuff, whether 5% off their bill for the next 2 years, free 7pm(5$ a month), straight up $70 credit to their account, or any other offer brought up in maximize(the program used to offer special stuff liek this). more or less the system determines whether it thnks your a good and loyal customer and gives the rep a way to give you stuff. if you havn't been offered, think about whether your a "good" customer or if you've been around long enough to get such offers.

they are NOT SUPPOSED to nail the 36 dollar fee on there, tell them to waiver it and tell them it is not an upgrade.
