it was a pretty good quarter, becuase it was constant with great growth in ev-do, and boost.

total= 1.3 million subscribers (net)
included; 563,000 postpaid
273,000 wholesale channels
502,000 through boost (prepaid)

churn= 2.1% for postpaid
5.4% for boost

arpu= $62 for postpaid
$36 for boost

data; $7

----

not a bad quarter.

starbucks and dunkin?

i prefer starbucks 🙂

i mean sprint and nextel. people are still confused with them especially on the affiliate area, but more importantly our salespeople are a bit confused with the 2 brands. there are other issues too such as billing etc..

🤣 They seem to be advertising very little.

yea, that is very true.. the only truly advertise during nascar, baseball and now the nhl playoffs..

they are pushing some nextel products but more importantly their ev-do. (you saw their data arpu 🙂 pretty good.. they increased their total ev-do users.)

i dont like the cingular commercials- with the drop call thing.. it is very dumb and i think mis-leading. but that is besides the point.

i just dont like the idea of them starting to advertise and flood the market with the whole "best network- lowest drop call campaign". i mean yes it is working, but is it true? it only seems that telephia says that while others are differnt (JD powers). until i see another company like telephia says that cingular has the best network i wont hold that premise true. i think it was best before where they would just advertise on their best asset they have. i mean yes cingular might be good in some areas, however, the markets where they are good (according to internal emails on this forum) i have no idea where they are, including the one in MASS. (and i live here)

I AGREE UNTIL I SEE ANOTHER COMPANY BACK UP THERE STATEMENTS I WOULD HAVE TO BE LEARY OF BELIEVING IT. I HAVE NEVER USED VERIZON AS THEY ARE NOT IN OKC YET

The churn is still way too high. If Sprint got rid of the $36 upgrade fee, it would definetly help out in lowering churn. Also, they have so much going on with buying out affiliates, merging the biling systems, making the gateway phone, training employees, spinning off embarq...with all of this and more going on, it's a decent quarter. With 51 million subs now, I think they are in good position if they can get churn down.

I think spinning off local/LD was kind of a bad decision. I know they're filled with nothing but debt, but the idea was to create another behemoth of a telecom co al'a VZW & ATT...

Sprint/Nextel plans on working with other companies to offer bundled packages (cable/cell/tv/internet). So it makes sense to get rid off their local division to not create any competition within the company. It only operates in 18 states, and is becoming a thing of the past when you compare it to VOIP.

It may be old info, but I was just stating my POV on spinning off the local division...

no;

the spin off is good becuase they want to focus all of their energies on wireless and that is the future, while local isnt. they are already a very strong company with its wireless assets... they want a company that continues to make money instead of slowing it down like the local/ld has.
