I have the F and F plan, all the ads say "no roaming or extra fees anywhere, ever" But I find out for me to have that I have to pay $5.00 extra, while to others its free or included in the plan. Am I the only one?
...
Did you get your phone from a corporate store?
...
I got my phone directly from Sprint over the phone, they mailed it to me. But my plan says: I have the Fair and Flexible plan with adjustable minutes, they advertise the plan as no roaming ever. But they said I had to pay $5.00 extra here, makes no sense, called America roaming included - $5.00
...
It sounds to me they have you on an older plan. You have 3 months to decide which plan will work best for you. Sprint just came out with plans that include roaming not long ago. I guess it depends on when you got your phone. i recommend calling customer care and getting on a more curent plan. If you live close to a corporate store your best bet would be to go directly to them.
...
I am on a new plan, the lady told me at sprint (800 number) that in this area, it was not offered 🤭
...
That must have something to do with their roaming agreements in that specific area. Are you aware that you may be eligible to receive discounts on your monthly service depending on where you work, or if you are a credit union member?
...
Where do i find out this information, I have heard this, I work a government job and heard that verizon offered something, what about sprint?
...
If you have a government job you almost definitely are eligible for discounts. Fairly good discounts at that. If you are near a corporate Sprint store, your best bet would be to go there. You will need proof of employment (check stub, time card, etc.) If not call customer care and see if they can attach you to a NVP account.
...
try this number; 1-877-812-1223
...
thanks that is what i was trying to find
...
i have other numbers too but i think that number is sufficient enough for him.
...
Hey thanks, Ill try it, what is that number for?
...
it is a number to talk to a person quickly.. ask them about discounts.. they will be able to help.
...
Oh ok, I'll call that and ask for government discounts? Also, do you work for Sprint? Did you see my original question? Have you heard of everyone getting F&F just like advertised except certain areas don't get it?
...
yea.. if they dont help ya, i will get another number for you.. or i am sure they will just say call X number..
i havnt heard of that $5 roaming situation unless it has to deal with being in an affiliate area- that could be.. i know other reasons why there is a $5 per month charge but nothing to deal with roaming.
i havnt heard of anyone in my area being charged that $5 for roaming, but for other things yea.. (mobile to mobile etc..)
...
Ok thanks, ill try this number soon here and let you know the outcome 😁
...
If my memory serves me right, the discount for federal government employees is 15%
...
yea; 15% sounds accurate.
...
In which case you work for ford....
...
Thanks I got them, we'll see if everything falls into place. The lady on the phone said she took the $5.00 off, for the roaming, we'll see when I enter into a roaming area if I get charged extra, I am on the F and F plan. Also, she enrolled me in the discount, and the discount she said was 20%, but took 60days, and it converts to a business account with my billing cycling changing. Hopefully all this pans out right here. I have this weird feeling I'll be charged for roaming. I may be wrong, but the plan says F and F has no roaming charges?
...
no problem 🙂
congratz.
20%?-not bad, i thought it was 15%.
yea, it takes 2 billing cycles (ie 60 days) to have it applied to the account. i would follow it in 30 days or so to see if its there, or have been applied or what not.. just check in now and then. sprint is good with adding on discounts..
i wouldnt worry if you have F and F becuase it does say no roaming on there so i wouldnt worry, but just check in every month or so to see what is going on.. it could help just to leave that $5/month on if it eliminated the roaming charges- it def makes sense to do so if you think that you will be charged.. (it is better to be safe then sorry)
...
Hi thanks, she first said 5%, then I seen a list of discounts for large businesses. I am with US Postal, it said 20%, then she came back later and said it was 20%, so hopefully it will be. I have no idea where to check that though.
...
USPS is 20% discount, if its 5% or less then 20% something is wrong on their end.. (becuase it is 20%)
keep an eye on it.
...
Thank you, she said 20% later, so we'll see. I assume they key in USPS and it automatically goes to 20%. I'll watch for it 🙂

Hmm, thought it was 25% when my wife signed up. She works for USPS. You also get a substantial equipment discount. Make sure you squeeze every dime coming to you because sometimes they "forget".
Sounds like you're going through the exact same scenario with roaming like we did, except we ended up with a $335 roaming charge. It's a very convoluted confusing plan. All I'll say is, watch out.
...
She told me its 20% now. Once your bill changed over it shows the discount everytime now right? As far as the no roaming plan, they advertise NO roaming ever anywhere on the F and F plan, I'm not paying extra, did they give you a refund?
...
Yes we did get a refund when I returned the phones. I guess steam coming out of the ears is a good indication the customer is unhappy.
They told me the same thing at the store; "no roaming ever". What they don't tell you is, not all areas are covered by this plan, and it changes from store to store depending on where you live.
Did you read the fine print in your customer agreement? I didn't because I believed the sales pitch.
"With unlimited Sprint PCS roaming plans, Sprint may terminate service if a majority of minutes in a given month are used while roaming."
Definition of unlimited: "Without limit"
If you live outside the Sprint network and plan on using your phone there, you are screwed.
Here, welcome to my nightmare:

they have a right to terminate service if you use your mins more outside of the network then in their legacy network.. please dont be so naive. it is pure business sake.
if they are using their mins outside the legacy area just go to an affiliate and sign up then you wont have to worry.. pretty soon all affiliates will be bought out anyway.

So whose fault is it? The naive customer who is told there are no roaming charges ever? Or is it the Sprint sales people at the factory stores unwittingly giving out false information to naive customers? In my experience even the store managers don't know what the roaming policies are.
Sure they have the right to terminate service....it's in the fi...

if you are on fair and flex there are no roaming charges; it is that simple.. (i have never heard of the $5 per month thing, but if a consumer has to pay $5 per month then they should becuase it doesnt hurt many peoples' wallets especially when they pay on avg of $60)
they mention no roaming on their plans; anyone can see it.
there is no false things with people's advertising; 1. with free and flex there are no roaming charges. 2. its simple to understand. if you think sprint is false on their advertisments you should look at other companies becuase they are just as bad or even worse.
if you are in an affiliate area instead of the legacy area use the affiliate service, not the legacy.. these things are simple- not sure why consu...

The "roaming" package you can add to F&F that supposedly has no roaming to begin with from the website.

Receive additional off-network roaming minutes for use when traveling off the Sprint Nationwide PCS Network. For more details on this service (available minutes, charges, etc.), please dial * 2 TALK from your PCS Phone and ask about our plans and services.
Also on any F&F plan listed where they say "no roaming" charges, they also include at the bottom, "Domestic off-network roaming calls are $0.50 per minute with an extra $0.25 per minute long distance charge where applicable."
The thing is there is no asterisk by any of the plans to indicate the roaming charge would exist on that plan. It's like a footnote, but instead of mark...

Wow, were you ever right. Normally, when I make a change to my plan or a credit, it appears online in my account just about instantly. So last night, I noticed no change at all. The lady before said the $5.00 each month looked like it was from an old plan and was an error. So she said it would be removed, it was still there and NO credits. So I decided to call and double check. Boy was I shocked! It was like talking to someone from another company, both ladys said two different things explaning roaming. She told me I was in a area that the plan didn't apply too. I said..well the lady gave me a pitch end of last year, the plan was NO ROAMING, if the phone worked then use it. No extra charges, or fees etc. So I said, sign me up then!...

Some areas of NC were part of the Alamosa Holdings market. They were an affiliate market, however, Sprint bought them out for 4.3 billion.
From what I can gather, it is taking them awhile to get adjusted and are having some billing issues. I roamed for a minute at my house, and was billed for roaming in an area that was over three hours away!
They advertise no roaming on the F&F plans as a selling point, but that is not always true for people who reside in the old Alamosa areas.
Basically, they are trying touting no roaming as a selling point, and still charge some Alamosa areas the old roaming fees they used to because they can. You said it was $5 now. That's for what 100 minutes? It used to be $5 or $10 for unlimited.
