Ok this sucks. My wife's LG 225 is Tri mode. We get crap for sprint service in my house. If I set her phone to roam only, it connects to 800 AMPS sprint, still crap (same physical tower). HOWEVER, my a940 is dual mode. If I set it to roam only, it connects to verizon 1900, perfect signal! Any suggestions/thoughts?

What happens when you have the phone set in automatic?

What is the current PRL in the phone? Sprint doesn't have analog towers. The phone is possibly not current and is looking for the wrong towers. Try a PRL update and see if that helps.

10033 is the latest PRL for non EV-DO devices.

20222 is the latest PRL for EV-DO devices.

Bah, my message got cutoff.

Call that number, it's a red phone, and ask for a PRL update. It's the red phone number and will take you to the front without having to deal with the voice automated system.

Tell them you want to have your account flagged for a PRL update, and then you call back at *2 and Claire will tell you to stay connected while your PRL is updated.

Good luck finding a rep who understands what a PRL is and how to flag an account though. Alot of times they just lie and tell you that you are current.

Just call back if they do.

Your phone does not pick up analog roaming, it is a digital dual. If you set tri-mode phones to roam only they will go into analog, where if you set it to automatic it should go into digital roam or sprint service.

That's why I was asking what happened when it was set to automatic.

if i set it to automatic, it is sprint pcs with 1 to 0 bars. cant maintain connection. when i set it to roam only, it is 800 amps, poor service also. sometimes it goes digital roam but very very rarely. its the Lg-225 tri mode. Digital roam has perfect signal. Its on verizon 1900. i just PRL chose the digital roam over the analog but it doesnt.

I have the same issue at my house. With the closest tower being a couple of miles away I get 1bar inside the house. Go outside to the street, three bars... In-building penetration issue being the signal is weak to begin with. Now go to the next town over where my parents live, there's a tower half/mile away. I get 5bars inside and out.... Go figure....

Another possible issue, might be that the phone's software itself is out of date. Most salespeople are clueles

I'd check what version she has by going to the menu, settings, and then select Phone info.

The latest version I can find listed for the LG PM-225 is PM225V10.

This page is what I am using to find this information.

If the tri mode doesnt have a digital only option (most tri modes dont) then your not going to get very far with it, when a tri mode is on the edge of coverage it will fight back and forth between the two systems, i bet on automatic you get 0-2 bars digital but as soon as you hit send it pauses goes to analog, back to digital and drops instantly. You could try buying a repeater but with that kinda money your better off buying a new digital only phone. Or you could look for a nokia, most nokias do have the digital only or analog only settings.
