Yes, it is true especially based on the network quality, spectrum positions, data, and plans it makes it the most powerful network because it also has a lot of great tools for the consumer. Oh yea, don’t forget about Nextel either especially when they combine. The combined assets make them very powerful.

Welcome.. It is kind of common sense though, because of their assets, management and content they have. They should be number 1.

Of course it is.. Look at its metrics; i.e. Arpu for both Data and Voice-it leads the industry. Also, look at the plans and 2005 vs. other companies in terms of net additions, you can see that they were number 2 behind Verizon, which doesn’t really have much going for them, but for voice plans. Sprint has the best push to talk network and best data network. They are also very good when it comes to content and prepaid.

Ohh Nextel. Why do you constantly blind yourself to the things you don't want to see?

https://www.phonescoop.com/carriers/forum.php?fm=m&f ... »

Looks like Sprint doesn't have the best push-to-talk and best data network. And second in net additions? They can lay claim to that ONCE in their history.

And how on earth does the amount Sprint charges for their voice and data services show that they have the most powerful network? Oh, right...it doesn't. 😳

Thats weird because in my area Sprint leases tower space on Verizon towers, and the Sprint antennas are way below the Verizon antennas

They all lease tower space from each other. Can you explain what your point is?

...they successfully managed to launch the 'death ray' that the Japanese were working on during WWII.

...I'm not nec a Sprint afficianado, however, if the iDEN & CDMA networks merged then they would be powerful (hiking up all the towers Nextel owned and throwing a CDMA xmitter up there, whatever and vice versa). Like, the empire from 'Star Wars' powerful. Seeing as how they have done nothing to integrate (assimilate) Nextel into Sprint then I still view them as two totally different entities... I totally disagree with how they handled the merge as far as (corporate) identities are concerned... Sprint 'together with Nextel'. Please.

One more thing I forgot to add to my other reply, was that look at what net additions that Sprint get with respect to data, and prepaid and compare them to the rest of the industry. Look at its spectrum assets too.

Well Cingular disagrees. And so does the BBB. And I'm sure within a few weeks time, Atlanta courts will do the same.

It seems the spat started after Cingular began spreading the word that its network has the "fewest dropped calls" (you know, the commercials that cleverly drop out the sound, making you think your television's busted). Sprint Nextel, with its "most powerful" claim, took issue with that, and brought it before the Better Business Bureau's National Advertising Division to sort out. Cingular, in response, told Sprint to go big or go home, bypassed the BBB entirely, and filed a lawsuit counter-claiming not only that they have the fewest dropped calls, but Sprint's network isn't the most powerful, either.

Because the calls sound that much better which to the average consumer would mean 'a more powerful network' on the side of Sprint.

Is it me or does that young chick in the 'drop the call' commercial look like she's on meph or something?

The calls sound better? I beg to differ. I used Sprint briefly two years ago and was forced to drop it because it always sounded like the person I was talking to was speaking through a tin can. A hollowed out tinny sound is all I can think of in terms of call quality on Sprint.

I've never had clearer calls than I do with Cingular.

I have Sprint and had Cingular and ATTWS and I can remember comparing the quality that Sprint destroys both of them especially in my area and the areas in which I travel. Actually, T-Mobile is better then Cingular and then ATTWS in my areas.

They will be even stronger when they bring over Nextel’s assets.

Iworked for Cingular man, i know for a fact that they do not have the coverage, unless you count there now crippled TDMA network... Seriously though, all the carriers SUCK, they all drop calls, they all have poor upgrade policies, but Sprint is EASILY the most lenient on the customers. I have worked for the four major carriers in some form or another, nad Sprint is better coverage, and better tot he customer in thew long run!

1. Nextel18 likes to play pretend too much.
2. I'm a very happy Cingular customer.
3. I was a dissatisfied Verizon customer and Sprint's service just appalled me.
4. I like to follow business closely and Cingular is definitely an interesting company.

Enough reason?

a combination of 2 & 3 are sufficient for a reason... but to show the kind of dedication to a cell phone company on a cell phone forum like that is really bad, not nextel18 kind of bad, but bad.

Okay...how so?

Maybe I didn't make number four clear enough for you. I am studying business management. It's something that has always fascinated me. As a sort of a hobby, Cingular has become my company of choice to study inside and out. The reason? The wireless industry as a whole is an extremely competitive market. I chose Cingular because I do have a certain amount of loyalty to them and feel that they are a strong company.

From my interest, I have learned a lot about the industry (since discovering this website) and feel I have a lot to offer here. If my amount of "dedication" to a cell phone company still bothers you after everything I have said...I can't say that I care.

I learn a lot from this website and I feel that my "dedi...

well duhhhhhhhhhhhh... population density!!! simple geographics! it would be a waste of money for sprint to build a **** load of towers up north because 2/3rds of the michigan population live below the Mount Plesant, midland, bay city line...

and even with low population, last summer when i visited Mackinac island alllll the way at the tip, i have between 3-4 bars 😛 😛 😛
