Ok so this is for sprint reps, this question is kind of complicated (or at least it was for sprint online help) and multi parted.

First,

My brother has 4 sprint phones, his primary line, and 3 add ons. One of the add on lines is not being used although it is activated with its own number, now here is my question:

1. Can i use this line and port my number from cingular to that line without extending that lines contract?

2. Can i buy a new phone on ebay and have it activated WITHOUT a new contract?

and 3. All of the phones on his plan are long distance to call from our home phones, but my numnber with cingular is not. When its ported, will it become long distance to call it from landlines like the rest of the phones on the plan?...

more then likely when your on your sprint phone your pulling in a canada cell tower and that would explain the long distance now you can port a number over an existing number but when i left a sprint 16 months ago they wouldn't do it they would just make you add an addt. line....and if they do let you do the port over you can purchase a phone from ebay but sprint will charge you a 36 "fee" for act. that phone.....last as far as the plan as long as its in the system your fine but if not they will make you change the plan and i wouldn't be surprise if they do....NOW IF I'M WRONG I'M SORRY AGAIN I HAVEN'T WORKED FOR SPRINT IN 16 MONTHS

it has nothing to do with canadian towers. My brothers NY cell phone number is long distance for our NY landline phones, even though his cell # is a NY number.

well i meant can i buy an ebay phone after i port my number and have them activate that on the account instead of the one thats on the account now without a new contract?

And, for some reason all of my brothers phones are long distance to home phones, all have the same area code as our landlines but its long distance, my cingular number one right now is also the same area code but its not long distance, i just wanted to make sure once its moved to sprints systems it wont become a long distance number like the rest of them.

nope, has nothing to do with who the carrier is, just has to do with the first six digits of the phone number.
Maybe the rest of the family could get a cell number with the same first six as yours?

see i did not know that. I thought since its on sprints network, it would become long distance. All of their phones are long distance numbers and they got them all at the same place, not more than 5-10 miles away. Not sure why they all have long distance numbers. Mines 716622 theres are 716465,716308,716940....so its the digits that matter, not the network then?

and i can port my number to replace a number currently on the plan without extending the contract?

Ive had this number for almost 8 years now from Cingular.
