If you have a laptop that has a PCMCIA slot(not the ExpressCard slot some of the newer models are being preinstalled with these days) , you could always purchase one of the 3 air cards Sprint offers(Merlin S620, PC 5740 or Aircard 580) and sign up for their Connect Card service with unlimited data access for either $79.99(if you don't already a voice service with Sprint) or $59.99(if you already do) on a 2 year contract. You'd be able to access the internet with your laptop wherever there was either Sprint 1xRTT or EV-DO Rev 0(Power Vision/BroadBand) service so you wouldn't be bound by WiFi access points.
