My girlfriend is currently with Nextel. She has about 11 months left on her 2 year contract. But she really wants to switch to Sprint (aren't they one company??). Would she incur any cancellation fees for switching at this point? She would of course have no problem signing a new 2 year contract with Sprint. She also seems to be interested in the LG Fusic phone, which by all accounts appears to be a pretty good phone. If she CAN switch without having to pay ETF, how much would this phone be on a 2 year?

Thanks to all that respond.

Her discount on the Fusic will depend on how long she has had her current Nextel handset.

If she's had her Nextel handset for less than 12 months, she'll be paying Regular Price/Full Cost.
Once she's had a Nextel handset for 12 consecutive months, she'll get $75.00 off Regular Price plus any applicable mail in rebates with 2 year contract renewal.
After 24 consecutive $150.00 off Regular Price plus any applicable mail in rebates with 2 year contract renewal.
As far as a termination fee to switch from iDEN to CDMA goes, she may want to stop by a Sprint Nextel Inc. corporate retail store and check. Most markets do not have any ETFs associated with migrating between the 2 technologies.

Ok, she has had her Nextel handset for 13 months, so I am assuming she would get $75 off plus any applicable MIR's. What would that make the price of the Fusic, or her 2nd choice is the A920. So how much would those phones be, and thank you very much for your help Ray.

I guess I should clarify that she has had the particular handset she has now 13 months, but overall she has had Nextel for about 4 years, if that makes a difference.

Cost of the these 2 handsets before sales tax and with a 2 year contract extension are below. There is a one time upgrade fee of $36.00 for the purchase of either handset.

Samsung A920 $299.99-$75.00 = $224.99
LG LX550/Fusic $329.99-$75.00 = $254.99

As far as The Fusic and A920 are concerned, both are excellent choices. I myself carry the Samsung A920 as the LG LX550(Fusic) had not come out when I purchased my A920. The major difference between the Fusic and the Samsung A920 is the fact the Fusic had the additional feature of being able to transmit your MP3s to an FM radio station(up to 10 feet). The Fusic also comes with a 64 MB MicroSC card whereas the A920 comes prepackaged with a 32 MB one. Plus the Fusic has an iPodesque look to ...

Ok thank you. Now my next question is, have you ever tried using Opera mini on this or any other Sprint phone? I use it religiously with my Cingular phone and she wants that capability.

Another question is do either of these phones support POP3 email?

neither support setup of external POP3 from the device itself... but depending on the Mail Service youre using, you may be able to access the companies site from your mobile browser. if not, you should be able to setup your POP3-mail to forward into your SprintPCS mail inbox by signing in to your Manage Page on the Sprint website.

Ok thanks. With a 1.3mp camera, the file size of pictures can become quite large (300+ kb's). Do you know if you can send those pictures using the Sprint email, and will the network resize them or is the Sprint email capable of handling any size file. Thanks in advance.

There's no fee to switch from Nextel to Sprint, since Sprint will eventually be getting rid of Nextel, and they want you to switch.
