Ok one other question

Is it possible to use the web while roaming? I heard yes but when I talked to a rep they said no those services are not available.

typically, no. although we do partner with some roaming companies (namely AllTel) to offer data roaming. so while it may be possible in some remote areas of the country, typically it isnt available, and therefor Sprint Tech wont usually support it. if you are in an area where you KNOW Sprint has a roaming agreement for data-roaming, Sprint Tech will make an exception. but dont expect the frontline to be able to fix it. a ticket (work order) will have to be filed so that Sprint & the other company can work together to allow you to connect when roaming on thier network. these can, and usually do, take a few days, so if this is an issue you have come across, please be patient. 🙂

I have texted while roaming and it is free just like with my plan. I never been able to access the internet while roaming.

Not all phones support DATA while roaming. Some one correct me if they know for sure this is wrong, but i am pritty sure the katana does not allow data while on roam.

some one please look this up in device tool.

The Sanyo Katana does allow Wireless Data roaming.

SMS, or text messaging, does not use data channels. it uses voice channels. that is why it is more likely to work while roaming. i still wouldnt promise you it would work.

same as regular data charges, depending on your plan. if you HAVE a Vision or Power Vision plan, here is no cost for data useage. Without a Vision / Power Vision plan, the cost for data useage is now $0.03/kb.
