Samsung SPH-m610 spec sheet

Sprint has done it again! They have managed to screw up what could be a great phone because Sprint doesn't have a clue as to what people want in a phone. This phone was originally offered to Sprint by Samsung with a 2.0 megapixel camera and most importantly a microSD slot. But clearly Sprint doesn't want the m610 to take away sales from the a900 which would of been the perfect phone had it had a microSD slot. Sprint clearly hasn't learned from Verizon, who gives cust phones the way they were meant to be instead of nickel and diming custs out of the features they want.

I have seen on other sites that the phone has a microSD slot, even though i dont see it on the sprint spec sheet, but is also doesnt mention that is has stereo bluetooth, which many websites have speculated. The lower-end m500 has stereo BT and a microSD slot, it would be very stupid to have a more expensive higher-end phone with less features.

Hmm....I think this is the first time I've heard someone accusing Sprint of "nickel & diming" their customers when compared to VZW! 😲 This phone was rumored to replace the A900 (now over a year old) so, if that were true it wouldn't make sense that they'd be concerned about the M610 taking sales away from the A900. However, I am a bit surprised to see these specs. Although, I don't recall seeing anything "official" when I read that this would be equipped with a microSD slot & 2.0 megapixel cam. 😕

I say nickel and diming because Samsung offered the phone to sprint with the 2 megapixel camera and sd slot - Sprint turned it down. They had an option with the a900 to have it come with 256mb but Sprint went with the 47mb option so the a900 would not undercut a920 sales. Same thing this time around - the m610 replaces the a900 without the SD slot and sure enough the m500, which replaces the a920 has one. So once again, Sprint is making its customers have to choose one or the other, rather than having a phone that has all the features in one package. I'm not a VZW fan but their phones come out fully loaded and still have claim to the only 3.2 megapixel camera on the US market. Thats what pisses me off about Sprints marketing strategy.

Oh, I see what you're saying. Well if this spec sheet is accurate then I guess that would be a bummer for someone who was lookin' for an ultra-slim phone w/an SD slot & 2.0 mgpxl cam. However, I must offer my $0.02 in regards to VZW offering fully loaded handsets (I know there's a better forum to post to for this but...). If we're talking about SD slots & high mgpxl count being the primary qualifier for "fully loaded"...I can't really answer to that. That may very well be true. But, it never ceases to amaze me how much VZW chokes the life right out of a device by their single flavored UI and their over priced & watered down services. Because of this, it's hard for me to consider their phones "fully loaded". Again, just my $0.02! As always......

Good point. My idea of fully loaded at this point is having a sd slot and 2.0 megapixel cam. Comparing Verizon phones may have been a bit rash, but I stand by my frustration at Sprint purposely limiting their phones just to make a few extra bucks. Whats the point of having a great data network if you don't have phones that can really take advantage of it. Rev. A should open up the door for 5 megapixel camera phones as the added upload speeds would make those phones realistic, however I see Sprint dragging their feet on that for as long as they can. The Technology is there, I just wish there was a company out there that would have enough balls to take the training wheels off their products.

ever heard of target market? or demigraphics. R&D spends most of its time with that maximizeing sprints line up to reach the maximum numbers of people. If you look at the entire line up no 2 phones have the same feature set. that would be stupid. in order to maximize over head to revenue volume you have to maximize verity of product.

Ever heard of screwing custs by forcing them to choose one feature or another, rather than having a phone that has both features. It has nothing to do with R&D but rather Sprint making sure that one phone doesn't halt the sale of a similiar phone. Good for business, bad for customers. Verizon, Cingular, and TMobile do not do that with thier phones, the vast majority of all their new phones, if not all of them come with a sd slot. Samsung keeps offering Sprint that option on thier slim phones but Sprint keeps turning them down.

Basically the blade or m610 with a memory card, it can hardly be called a music phone with it only has 47mb of memory.

if you want something like the blade with a memory card then get the razor it has the exact same feature set. or there is also the m500 or even better there is the krazer. like i said name the features they want and sprint has a phone with them and if sprint does not it is only because the phone does not exisist.

besides, putting on the features offered by the manufacturers usually will increse the net price of the handset, wich is good for the manufacturer, bad for the company, and bad for customers, because the phone would cost more.

Please tell me youre kidding.
Verizon, king of crippling, locked down "But you can do it for 5.99 a month, even though the phone does it natively"

I do think this phone will sell.. its the alternative to the A900.
Theres tons of redundant phones in every lineup.. choices choices.
