Ok I am confused the two merged right. So do you have to have a special phone for the hybrid coverage area?

Not really.
There isnt 'Hybrid' coverage.

The new Hybrid phones use Sprints CDMA network when it makes/receives calls, and when it connects to the web.

But is uses Nextels IDEN network when it connects for Walkie Talkie.

We are stil in the process of merging together. Its taking a while, but its constantly in progress.

Hope that helps!

Yeah it does, a little. I just wasn't sure when I look at coverage maps on sprint.com should I look for sprint coverage or nextel, or hybrid. But I guess it depends on what phone you purchase?

Yes, you have to have one of the 2 current Motorola Hybrid phones, either the ic402 or the ic502 to be able to use the Sprint's CDMA network for both voice(1900 MHz only) and data(1xRTT) as well as the iDEN(850 MHz) PTT. The main difference between the ic402 and ic502 is the latter has both an external caller ID display and is build around the 810F specifications.
