Leave Sprint for T-Mobile (DASH)?

Where to start!

1) I have been with Sprint for 6 years through good and bad. I have no quams with coverage and in-store support has gone way up since the merger. Phone support is always top-notch.

2) I need a Smart Phone and I fell in love with THE DASH! I have to have it. It does everything I need. I think..... does anyone have any comments about it. Sprints phones selection seems weak.

3) I am concerned about T-Mobiles customer service, not that I have heard anything bad, I just havent heard anything and Sprint has been fine lately.

4)T-Mobiles plans seem better (much better).

5)How is coverage?

6)The Caveat ..... How can I get out of my contract?

What is everything you need? I am asking to assess if Sprint has a phone for you. I sold Sprint for a year and a helf and am currently selling both T-Mobile and Sprint. The Dash is a nice phone. I can also say T-Mobile's customer service is very nice. However, in making sure you make the right decision, get a coverage check first...T-Mobile's coverage is a little more shaky than the other carriers because they haven't built up as much as the other carriers in the states yet. Also, remember Sprint has your 7 PM N/W, which can make up for the extra minutes you get with T-Mobile.
What extras are you looking for? Texting? Internet? Are you looking to travel with the phone?
Now, getting out of yoru contract...errrr...no carrier makes t...

Mostly web access for Mapquest and Gmail. I own a small business and need to check vendor pricing some times also.

Texting is not important.

I thought T-Mobile has 7pm Nights and weekends also

That would be simply amazing for T-Mo to have 7PM N/W, but they do not. They DO have the MyFaves, and that can work for ya and is compatible with The Dash.

You may want to check out the Treo 700, but go for the Palm version. The windows version is real iffy. OR, you can go with one of the Power Vision phones. A huge thing is Sprint has the fastest data network in the industry right now. Plus Sprint offers GPS on a bunch of its phones and there is a mapping program in their OnDemand pakage. 🙂

Well my current Sprint plan is 9pm nights and weekends anyways, so that doesnt really matter.

The GPS would be nice!

Is there any concern with T-Mobiles data speeds?

I have an FREE application on my Sprint phone for Gmail. It looks just like my inbox on my PC and connects instantly. Plus, Sprint has many different and superior mapping/navigation services than Mapquest. Don't shoot yourself in the foot with Tmobile coverage. Sprint offers exactly what you are looking for. You just gotta ask...

Sprint has a couple of the blackberries. That might be something for you to try. OR someof their regular phones have the apps you'll need to get what you want. You may not need a PDA. The Power Vision phones are FAST!

Most of the Power Vision phones support GPS based navigation services such as Telenav or if you want just mapping and directions (not visual/audio turn by turn real time navigation that is the beauty of Telenav) then the Power Vision On Demand mapping service will suffice for your needs. The Gmail app is available on almost all Sprint phones as far as I know. Once again, Sprint has what you want, and Brighid79 is right, Power Vision will make Tmo data speeds look silly.

just to clarify a tiny bit, all of the EVDO w/ typical size screens (ie 176X220) will be compatible for telenav. Ones w/ odd size screens (the a900) will be a while til you see a release for those phones

Really!

It seems to blow all Sprint phones away!

CNET rated it as the best smart phone available. "THE Q KILLER"

My only concern is coverage area and data speeds.

If that's your concern, you can try out a T-Mo phone for 14 days, use it in the areas where you will need it, and determine if the coverage/data is right for you.

Q Killer???? That is not that hard...the Q, from what I have heard, has not been doing that great performance wise. I am open to being wrong on this, but the rumors I have heard is that many people are disappointed by it.

I have no experience with Sprint, but I do carry both T-Mobile and Nextel on me at all times. In the ten or so US states in which I have traveled with both phones, only one small community in CA did T-Mo have coverage when Nextel did not. Nextel has better coverage than T-Mo in the US, and when Nextel shows only one bar of signal strength it can still do the call well, whereas T-Mo frequently drops/garbles calls with even 2-3 bars. T-Mo has real coverage problems in the US.
