what is back order?
ok, i'm upset....i orgered the sanyo M1 tonight and the guy said i could get over night shipping and i would have the phone no later than this friday. then i call back to check on my order and they say its on back order and don't know when it will be shipped. i want to cancel my order if they don't even know when i will get it....what does back order mean?

Don't cancel just chill and be patient! The phone is on back order you should have known that! It will be worth the wait

They told me that today when I called then I noticed the new number on my account online. I called back and they said it shipped today.

so even though its on "back order" it can still be shipped right away....i still don't get why they told me that then....not a good way to sell people things

since its new they can't guarantee it. So instead of saying it will be there they tell you it might not. I rather see it when I wasn't expecting tehn the other way around!

Back-Order indicates that they rec'd (let's say) 1,000 phones from Sanyo to sell to subscribers for release or pre-release. They rec'd (first come-first serve) 1,200 orders. The remaining 200 are on back-order and will be fulfilled when new shipment is rec'd from manf to SPCS...

Like I said I was told yesterday morning it was on back order. Later was told it shipped in the afternoon and is already out for delivery!

If it's any help, a lot of carriers rely on fulfillment centers like Brightpoint and others... They handle the logistics and warehousing. SPCS gets a note saying something's on back-order just as the warehouses are receiving a new shipment of stock... It's not like any of the carriers are BS'ing, it's just sometimes wires get crossed...
