Good Basic Phone

spinster

Hello,

I am looking to switch to US Cellular and am searching for a dependable basic phone with good reception and good sound quality. Camera would be ok but it is not a requirement. Any help would be greatly appreciated.

Thanks!

Spinster,

Anymore for the same price of a basic phone, you can get a nice camera phone with some bells and whistles.

I would highly recommend the Motorola V323i, in my market you can get this for $19.95 after a $30 mail-in rebate. Or FREE after a $50 mail-in rebate, however this option does require 90 days of our EasyEdge data service at $9.95/month. Information on EasyEdge is available at www.uscellular.com or calling 1-888-944-9400.

Thanks very much for the advice! One more question, I heard that LGs have inferior reception compared to other CDMA phones. Is that true?

Thanks again, you both have made this so much easier for me.

In general here is a list of manufacturers from best to worse.

Nokia is usually the best.

LG and Motorola are usually about the same, varies by model of course.

Samsung is decent

Kyocera is decent

Audiovox/UT Starcom is horrible, since we are an agent (ie: not owned by corporate) we will not sell this manufacturer because of quality issues.

This do vary alot between manufacturer and models

lol, I rate Kyocera above UT Starcom, but only in the cheap phones. Kyocera higher end phones haven't had any problems, they just don't sell. I agree with everything else you said.

Too bad we won't have another true Nokia. If we get the brand again it will be a Panasonic Knock Off. I truly loved Nokia, rest in peace.
