Since U.S. cellular may be getting the Q its going to be the original model correct? Also do you have to subscribe to the blackberry service plan or can you connect to internet with it via wireless network/wifi? I would love to have this phone for the texting and internet but dont want to pay an extra 25 bucks a month just to have the internet w/e I am.

If you're wanting to text, you're going to have to get the BB plan to use RIM's server. Looking to save per month, wait for the Moto Q.

You'll get charge per kb for data. You'll have to get a data plan reguardless.

USC is going to charge a monthly fee for bandwidth and BB will charge to use their server w/USC's network.

seriously misinformed people once again, if you are unsure of something don't try and give someone answers. Currently you can buy a blackberry without blackberry service and still text and talk. If you want to use the data network you will have to pay $40 a month for the blackberry service. The motorola Q will be a different story. You can download Blackberry connect to stay connected to your corp/personal email but you will still have to pay a fee of some sort for the data service. Wheather it is $10 or $40 NO ONE knows. Just chill and wait for it!

You do not need the BB data plan to use text messaging on a BlackBerry device.

Within the primary email program, there is a option in the menu to send a sms and it use's the standard sms packages, NOT the BB data plan.

Ok because I just want to use it to send texts and get on the internet but only by connecting to my home wireless network/and other wifi spots. I just dont have an extra 40 bucks to spend so that I can send an email wherever.

If you are gonna use internet, you will most likely need the data package.

The Q does not have WiFi and to my knowledge does not support SDIO cards.

The only other way you might get around the data package is if you can get a rep to add the 9.95 unlimited easy edge package to that line, it might be possible on the Q to do what I have done many times with my Kyocera 7135. Basically you use the internet portal within EasyEdge to access the internet, but you are not going to want to use this all the time, if you have a high usage stat on your account, it will get flagged for fraud as it is against the terms and conditions of the service for EasyEdge.

The Kyocera 7135 did not work with EasyEdge (at least in our market) It would not access it in any way. (hubby had one for over 2 years before it started going through 3 batteries a day. )

The Kyocera 7135 will access the internet portle within EasyEdge.

It does not have EasyEdge access for downloading programs like on a normal phone, but you can use it to access the internet like a WEP browser.

I have one hanging on my left hip, and I have done it many times. Example-I used the internet portle from EasyEdge to access MapQuest.com when I was visiting family in Kentucky last October. I used it to check the National Weather Service awhile back sitting a church during a bad storm.

Beleive me, this can be done, however it is NOT supported by USCC and is not technically allowed by them either. You just need to know how to configure it, which is not hard.

also, BB texting is completely different from general texting. BB messaging is from one BB to another only, so it would be useless for what this woman/man is needing if she's wanting to text to non-BB users or even BB users without data service package.

it bothers me when people confidently speak about something they really aren't sure about it. it would be better to just say "i think..." or "i'm really not TOO sure, but..."
