I hope US Cellular is going to improve their service in Nebraska. Our carrier used to roam on alltel in nebraska and had great service, but now they chose to put us on US Cellular, and service is not so great any more. Basically if you go north out of Norfolk on 81 to hwy 20 and head towards sioux city, you have weak signal and dropped calls all the time, where alltel, had full signal pretty much all the way to the hills on hwy 20. I know this area is not a big population area, but they are 2 major highways for nebraska and US Cellular does not have them covered very well, need a lot of improvement.
Note...I am thinking of switching to US Cellular, but when I have areas that I goto and the service is bad when my carrier is roaming on t...

As someone that lives in nebraska I can personnally say that that highway 81 or 20 isn't a "major" highway in nebraska. And yes you're right it's not very populated out there plus near Souix city we acctually don't have service out there, look at our maps! It costs anywhere from 1/4 to 1/2 a million just to put the tower up plus around 1-3k a month to operate it, and even if everyone in the area signed up with us cellular we would still loose money, speaking of which have you contacted your congressmen bout the rural cell fund cap, bet not.
Plus I may just be a stupid hick from Nebraska but since your name is trucksmoveamerica you're probably a trucker; so have you tried doing a Prl download (*22๐ that might help. And this still be my...

Under normal situations yes, I would agree with you that hwy 81 and 20 are not major highways, but in Nebraska, they are. Hwy 81 is the main drag from basically kansas to south dakato, and 20 is not as major, but gets lots of traffic as motorists access it via 81 from south dakato, or out of vermillion, or sioux city, it is a main artery for the northern part of nebraska. and yes, I know when you get to the hills by jackson, ne I know there is no coverage thru them. And yes by sioux city, Us Cellular is no longer a native carrier there.. and I understand that it costs money to serve areas, but nobody forced us cellular to buy that area, if it was to big for them to service, then they should not have bought it, or at least give their custo...

As I posted in another thread; USCC's network in Nebraska & Kansas are part of the Western Wireless buyout, when Alltel was forced to divest it. USCC is well aware that the network isn't great. As for Verizon picking the old Western Wireless network over Alltel, has to do with Alltel signing a big roaming agreement, making Sprint the preferred roaming partner for 1X & EVDO roaming. Becuase of that roaming agreement, Verizon removed Alltel from their PRL wherever they could, and lowered Alltel in areas that they can't completely eliminate. Nebraska & Kansas are 2 states that USCC is now preferred over Alltel. In Appleton Wisconsin, Alltel used to be preferred, but now USCC is preferred where Verizon's native coverage isn't the best. If ...

1. at 930 pm, the USCC store was closed.
2. If I come into a USCC store with a verizon phone, what do you suppose they will do. ๐ณ
3. dialing *228 in the USCC area, provided it will dial out, will not do anything for a verizon phone, if anything, it will screw it up. ๐ฒ
4. Even if I gave USCC a couple million to put a tower on my truck, I would be ripping your power lines down... ๐คจ
5. Insider information.... ๐ ๐ณ ๐ฒ ๐
6. cellular phones were not made to replace the land line, my land line cord does not stretch that far, being that I was in my truck on a uscc tower with a verizon phone, is it not obvious I was not at home.... ๐ณ ๐ ๐คฃ I stated I was on a major nebraska highway, about as major...

I can't beleive you; you have a verizon phone that doesn't have the correct software to run off of our network and you are complaining about our service, Here's a thought maybe if you got a U.S. Cellular phone it might work better of the U.S. Cellular network ??? ๐ ???
I'm pretty sure that if I took my phone out onto the verizon network it wouldn't work the best either.

I am pretty sure you are wrong there. I am guessing that maybe USCC was having issues that night, I have stated that already now and you are not reading that.
You are not getting the point. My phone is working right everywhere except for nebraska. I am using it on other USCC towers in Iowa and there are no problems.
and what you mean to say is not software, but the right PRL list. And that list is updated everytime I do the duct tape *228.
And remember, I said that my friend who HAS USCC was with me and was having problems also.
