On USCC's Coverage Map, it shows that most of the US is covered by there service. But after comparing it to other carriers (Verizon, Sprint, At&t) it showed MORE coverage than any of them. But while on a trip to Cleavland (From St. Louis) I was roaming most of the way and during my time in Cleavland. So why do they say its THEIR coverage? (I have a national plan, btw)
Also, if I make a call in a roaming area, does that cost me minutes no matter what time it is or if its incoming?
If anyone could clear this up for me, It would be great. Thanks!

🤣 🤣 they only have native coverage in maybe 3 or 4 states. The rest is relied upon verizon, sprint, alltel providing them use of their network. Tmobile does this to. They have 0 serivce in NC yet their phones work all over the state on suncom first then att. Their map shows were you can roam also. If you have a national plan then you most likely are not paying for roaming.
...
If you are on one of our new family plans and not an old sharetalk plan your incoming calls will be free nationwide as will your N&W. Mobile 2 mobile only works in the M2M area which you can find on a coverage map at a retail store.
...
Actually it's more like 17 states, all of our local area's are our towers it's only if you go out of our network that you get one of our roaming partners.
P.S. Everone does this even, Verizon (they roam off our towers here in Nebraska)
...
Don't think that verizon has native coverage nationwide, as they do not. They also rely heavily on roaming agreements thru carriers such as alltel, USCC, and others. If you want to see what verizon actually owns and operates, look at the enhanced map, that is verizon owned, the rest of their red map is roaming, which is a good portion.
We use USCC in Iowa and Nebraska, hopefully not in Nebraska soon, as Alltel is superior in Nebraska. Iowa USCC is great and no problems.
But dont jump on the verizon fanboy train and think verizon is native nationwide, as we verizon customers rely heavily on roaming also.
...
Ya I looked at there map, and they had the LEAST coverage out of all the other carriers. Well except USCC but they don't count roaming as not being "their coverage". Sprint I think had the most, and the At&t. But I'm in St. Louis and coverage is great here. So thats all I'm really concerned about.
...
Oh I don't I made that aurgument here that sprint has more native coverage and was laughed at. I know verizon doesn't. Alltel has the largest network per square miles and sprint has the largest per population!
...
its more like native coverage in 27 states there sweet heart!
...
what is more astonishing is your lack of comprehension. I said tmobile has 0 coverage in NC. I know US Cell does I lived there. Read before you put your foot in your mouth!
...
use punctuation correctly! you started the paragraph talking about uscc then ended your sentence about tmobile with a period and expected everyone to understand!
...
"Tmobile does this to. They have 0 serivce in NC yet their phones work all over the state on suncom first then att."
umm what is hard to understand? Since when would USCC use att or suncom to roam? Two differant networks!
...
you still don't negate the fact the you said uscc had coverage in 3 or 4 states when its clear by our wide area map that your statement in completely incorrect
...
ok you got me there however my point was not that. But if it will make you happy it looks like about 12 if you want to count half or portions of a state. Sorry didn't mean to get you all upset for using 3 to 4 states as saying they have very little native coverage!
...
they actually have as much native coverage as alltel and larger companies like Verizon and Sprint (Sprint has the least coverage, check fcc.gov) roaming on our service and pay a per min rate, therefore driving U.S. Cellulars stock (stock ticker is USM if you would like to check it out) higher then any other wireless carrier in the US. There is a reason our Churn rate is lower then any other carrier (1.5%), which means we set the standard for all carriers. The definition of churn is The percentage of subscribers to a service that discontinue their subscription to that service in a given time period. Meaning, for every 100 customers we activate for new service only 1.5 customer cancel their service. We also keep our customers an average of...

omg I know you didnt say verizon or sprint. Or even alltel. Alltel has the largest network per square miles and is quite bigger then the next biggest. Sprint has coverage in 49 states and the covers the most population. I beleive verizon has coverage in about 48. how can you say a company with coverage in 12 and some are not even fully covered have as much! Come on who are you kidding!
You onlt have a couple of million subscribers. Of course your churn is low you don't have as many to please or leave.
27 states? I must be bad at adding them up! I did not see 27 states in the wide area calling map.

Ok here is what I see:
maine
Vermont
New hampshire
Half of west virgina
half of virgina
3/4 of NC
a small fraction of SC
1/4 of tennasee
A fraction of washington state
small fraction of cali
Oregon
oklihoma
2 miles in tx
and about 5 others that are not full states.
Taking to much time I think you get my point.
...
oh wait and wide area calling is not their ntive coverage. Look at the mobile to mobile coverage map. That is their true native coverage.
...
your a joke, seven million customers is plenty to please..............alltel is not a national carrier and never will be thats why they have just been bought by a brokrage firm for private resell dip ****.........also try counting the wide area map again, 27 states that they offer service in. Your the only person on earth who thinks sprint has good service..........check telephia.com, thats the indepent drive company that test everyones network, including sprint and US CELL..... so for your amusment I went to your beloved verizon wireless website and put my zip code in. verizon says they have service in the city I am from.........guess what? ITS USCC SERVICE THEY ARE ROAMING OFF OF. THeir map shows their roaming partners coverage just li...

man does everyone resort to name calling to prove their point?
I don't love verizon. Never said they were the best. Yes they serve 27 states. Just because they service one city or two in a state does not mean they serve the whole state.
No alltel is not a national carrier and never said they were. They do have the LARGEST network per square miles. They were bought because they wanted to be bought. Goes back to everyone has a price. They will be resold to verzion or sprint in the coming years. Who ever does buy them will be the largest carrier both by network and customers by a huge margin!

If you look on the map you will see a green area which is our local area, this is where our towers are located which we build, upkeep and run.
On the Nationwide plan when you are not on our network your phone will say roaming because you are using one of our roaming partner's towers, as long as you have the nationwide plan on your account you will never get roaming charges (although your phone will say roaming.)
And as jjones said if you are one of the newer plans (since Aug 06) then your Call me minutes and Night and Weekend minutes are free. Otherwise they just come off your normal anytime minutes.
...
Thanks
My dad (we have a family plan) said that Nights and Weekends and Incoming cost us minutes, but I'm glad to know thats not true. But mobile to mobile works in the local area, correct?
