Speculating...

😁

I am going to use this forum as it is intended for and share my opinion/speculation on something.

I predict that due to the direction USC has been heading in the last few months with products they are launching that:

USCC will launch EV-DO Rev. A Network Wide by Christmas.

Anyone care to comment?

Nope thats why I am speculating. I have no info that supports my thought. This is merely an educated guess and I thought I would post it to see what other opinions were.

I think its is safe to say they will. They will need to to stay competive. As they have great CS and loyalty in the industry.

I totally agree. There is a comparison chart they have on their web site that compares the phones, and one of the lines is EV-DO capable with an asterisk beside it that states it is only available in certain areas. They will have to have it soon to stay competitive, although I have to say I got my Q today, and the downloads are reasonably fast for the connection speed. It's a great phone for the money...$100 after rebates. Can't beat it.

Glad you mentioned that you were on your Q and the download speed was reasonable...

DO you know for sure that you weren't using EVDO signal?

I was using a BlackBerry 8830 the other day and I went in the system ID area and it showed that it was receiving EVDO signal... now I may have misread what the phone was actually saying. Maybe it just meant capable but I am pretty positive that it was.

That is part of the basis for my speculation.

Hi there.

I looked in the manual and it said that there was an EV icon that would show near the signal strength if I was using the EVDO network. I haven't seen one yet! I am traveling to Minneapolis on business at the end of September, and I hear that is where they are testing it at this point. So, it will be interesting to see if it pops up there!

I have to say, though, I love the Q! I have a Blackberry for work through AT&T, and the Q is head and shoulders above it. I know it's been around a while, but I am very happy with my purchase. I am going out at lunch today to buy a skin for it to protect it so that I can put it in my pocket. 🙂

My phone does EVDO in Dallas, or Denver, or any other place where there may have been EVDO over the air! We don't have EVDO anywhere in the area around here, that I know of. The Razrs and Krzrs, Sam 520 and Q all have EVDO capability. (I think the last couple of Nokias did too.)

My speculation is that we won't have a single non camera phone in our linup after Christmas.

I disagree. There is a new LG in testing with no camera.

That would be great. What makes you think that it will happen by then?

Just a hunch... competitiveness... the fact that their new phone release lineup contains majority of EVDO capable handsets... The fact that Milwaukee has been "testing" EVDO for nearly a year... High speed data apps on EE... USCC's policy of releasing services companywide vs. in certain markets and the fact that they frequently try to keep everything under wraps and unveil many new innovative products all at once.

That and 5 years of being a USCC agent...

That and a good wireless card for non business custies (that a lowly agent could sell without going through a business rep)

EVDO would make that so much easier for USCC to do!
