Did anyone see his interview on CNBC yesterday? How embarassing. He doesn't have a clue what customers want/need.

If you missed it:

He is so out of touch.

He thinks USC is at the "bottom of the big guys". Ill give they are at the top of the regional game but not on par with the big 3.

He says that revenues are up because of data services and other add ons; but admits that they will only have a 35-40% evdo market penetration by the end of 08.
If data is such a revenue driver and so important why is only a 35-40% market penetration acceptable? Why does it take a 2 year test period for a proven technology?

He said that CDMA is on the way out and they are looking at LTE, whats the roll out date on that going to be, 2020!

If he wants to be part of the "big guys" they need to pick up the pace and get with the current technology and trends!

I totaly agree he needs to relook at US Cellular Situation

OK We might be the 2nd Biggest regional carrier (I put alltel as regional) and by the end of 2008 we might have 40% EVDO WOW OMG, Verizon will have more of their network evdo rev a by then. It always seams like we are a step behind. So his analogy of being a big guy is not correct.

Atleast he knows what LTE is... LOL or did his PR Guy tell him right before he went on????

This makes me soooooooo angryyyyyyyy!!!!

As a Verizon Wireless user, I see this interview a big problem with USCC not expanding EVDO faster. If he's around long enough for LTE to be overlayed by the big 2; are they gonna be sitting back on that too? It sounds to me like USCC should consider looking at selling to Alltel. Alltel might be able to hold on longer than USCC will with Jack Rooney being clueless. I maybe a generation X'er here, but I'm know USCC is not moving fast enough at anything. They can't focus on service alone.

Jack Rooney saved this company. Their strategy of relibaility and testing before rushing things to market has worked so far in the areas they provide service. US Cellular does nto claim to be a national serice provider, so it is crazy to think they are going to have the R&D money like Verizon, ATT, etc. THey don't rush things to market intentionally, and most customers are happy about that.

I guess your siping the koolaid. This post was not to debate if Jack had done well for the company in the past. It is refering to his comments on CNBC and how he thinks the future of the industry looks. He does say we are a big boy national carrier. He claims to be on the bottom of that teir. Rush to ...

He must talk to PR before interviews. I would take his job, but they couldn't pay me enough. 😢
