the rumor-mill is heating up with a possible merger of these three companies. I mean its inevitable that u.s. cell would either merge or get swallowed up by verizon soon anyway!! 😳

Well I'm located in Chicago and have two very close friends that work in the U.S. cellular corporate offices located on higgins rd. here in Chicago. As a matter of fact they work directly for Mr. Rooney for those of you who do not know who he is go to U.S. cellular.com and look it up. The word is by the end of this year the merge will start happening why do you think us cell is offering so many minutes for such little price!! What that does is gives the company a bigger subscriber amount and that generates a bigger buying price for the merger. Face it it's happening they can't survive with the giants of the industry out there!!!

Customers have already been told in the respective areas if All Tell was going to take over their area. If you have not been told, please disregard the notice of the merge. US Cell is not merging with AllTell or any other companies at this time.

I have gotten it direct from some ALLTEL execs..it will be happening. As will the Verizon thing. We got to talking and they accidentally slipped up and said a few things that porbably shouldn't have been said...

But as we all have heard hundreds of times, it would remain as US Cellular due to the fact that they have the largest company due to TDS.

Actually, it probably would fall under the umbrella of ALLTEL due to the fact that ALLTEL does not have a separate wireless division. Their landline service is also operated under the ALLTEL branding. When you take the entire customer base into account, ALLTEL has over 12 million customers compared to the 6 million for TDS telecom and its subsidiaries. But again, it is all a moot point because Verizon is looking at buying the whole thing anyway! 😛

Let's be perfectly honest with ourselves here... if all of these companies merged, and then Verizon tried to buy, they would have to promise their first born to the FCC. I can see USCC and Alltell merging, but the likelyhood of Verizon scooping it up is pretty slim.
