Windows Mobile E-mail & Web Service
I think I have figured out a way to have the Moto Q and not have to pay the extra $24.95 for Windows Mobile E-mail & Web Service. I talked with a customer rep today who told me that if I activated a phone that I did not purchase with a contract rebate/discount, you did not have to have the service. For example...I can buy the phone off of e-bay (brand new) for around $120 and have USCC activate it on my plan without the data package. I really want a phone with QWERTY. I do not have much use for the data package at this time. I have heard not very good things about the LG UX260, and to me it seems like a cheap phone.

I didn't like the UX-260 either and I tried everything I could to get the Motorola Q. My uncle had one he didn't want anymore and I wanted to use it for QWERTY because I am a big texter but they wouldn't do it I was so mad. But I had to face the factor so tomorrow I am going to get a BB Curve and paying $24.95/month

I would suggest double checking that info before you purchase the phone. 🙂

No matter what, you must have a data package on the line with a data phone. So, if you buy at a phone on ebay or from a store and add to your line. You must have data. that the policy of USCC.

I was told by two different reps yesterday that you did not have to have the data package if the phone was not under any type of contract with USC. My contract expires soon, so I think it will work. I will double check with a local rep before I purchase the phone.

I work for U.S. Cell. and it is policy that if you have a smartphone, you have to have the data package. Theres no getting around it.

:cry So even after being told by two customer reps that it was possible.... I given up my fight with exempting the data package.
I bought the Glimmer yesterday. It is pretty nice phone...a little pricey...no QWERTY...but still nice.
