Newbie: can I use a USCC phone as a modem?
The US Cellular people I've spoken to tell me that USCC "doesn't support" customers using their phones as modems, although I hear that some customers purchase their own data cables and do it anyhow. These customers simply "pay the freight" for the data they use.
When a customer is using their phone as a modem, are they using their plan minutes, or do they need to use the Easyedge service?
I'm hoping that the answer is plan minutes. The Easyedge brochure lists a price of $10.95 for 10 MB/month of data. 10 MB really isn't very much however - an hour or two of web surfing could use that up.
I'm not interested in the sports, weather, games, or all that other Easyedge stuff that they want to sell you. I want to connect my laptop ...

It can be done via EasyEdge, correct. There is an unadvertised plan that you can call in and request, unlimited data for about $30. The details will depend on your phone, cable, and software... People report success using it via Bluetooth on moto 710, effective data speeds about 50-60 down and up to 10kbps up. Not much, but within spec and still faster than regular dial-up, at least on the download.
