I can't beleive there is another recall on LG's!! At least this time, it's just EE. What are your opinions on the LG phones? Any complaints?

I do not think that is a complete Lg 6100 recall. They are not taking all the 6100 back from every carrier. The phone's software is only having problems with EE so far from what they have said. So let's not scare everyone that carries that phone. Just the phones that have been sold threw USCC.
I personally love my LG 6000. It is by far the best phone I have ever carried. I also like the other LG models too. I know LG had some problems with the 5550, and now the 6100. I guess I like them becuase they reconize the problem, and fix it. When Kyocera had that battery problem back in 2004, they said they fixed it, but I see the phantom, and now the soho still having battery problems. They just do not hold a charge longer than a day. ...

What is actually the problem?

I guess on some phones, you can download an application on easyedge and then you can't access it at a later time. *shrug* i haven't had that problem... looks like they are pulling the entire ee catalogue for now?

What I heard was the problem is that after you download anything, you have to power off the phone inorder to access the apps. It is probably more than that too.
...
The problem with the 6100 is if you download apps off of EE, the phone will lock up. The same occurs if you try to access the apps again at a later time, and you have to power cycle the phone for it to work again. We got an estimate in the call center for about a 2 week turnaround time on this and we should be abl to start selling them again.
...
Love them! I will probably never own anything but LGs. I haven't had an issue with easyedge on phone, nor have any of my customers so far.
...
Not a recall - the phones aren't going anywhere. We've temporarily pulled them from the sales floor pending a software upgrade. (Users can't access EE apps once downloaded)
I'll still sell an LG over any other phone. We get the best performance from them, and see fewer LGs for repair than any other phone. 😁

Right now they are trying to figure out how to fix the problems with EE. Once they do, and they tell us what we need to do for all the customers that bought them, we will let you know. You will only see a problem with EE. Just using the phone will not create any porblems for you. But once we know anyhting more we will let you know.
They haven't even asked us to send what we have back yet. They just told us to stop selling them. 😕

ummm . . . can someone tell me what "EE" stands for?

Easyedge is the name of USCC data service. It is the system they have to allow users to get to aplications to download ringtones, wallpapers, Nweb, ESPN sports, etc.
If customer has purchased a LG VX-6100 and goes onto EE, and dowloads apps, they are unable to access these apps. So USCC has asked us to stop seling them temp. Once the problem is resolved then we will go from there.

What happens if you bought one of these 6100's prior to them being pulled off the shelf? Is there a software upgrade available to fix this? Or should it be returned?

I would say return it. Cuz software updates can be tricky in LG phones ex. would be the LG 325.
...
I kept mine, nothing wrong with it. I would just wait for the fix, I've heard it's just going to be an over-the-air fix. 😕
