Telephone & Data Seeks To Take Over Rest Of US Cellular
WASHINGTON (Dow Jones)--Telephone & Data Systems Inc. (TDS) is implementing a plan to take over the remaining shares of U.S. Cellular Corp. (USM) it doesn't already own and make the company a wholly owned subsidiary, according to a regulatory filing Monday with the Securities and Exchange Commission.

The proposal will permit Telephone & Data Systems, which currently owns 82% of U.S. Cellular's common stock, at some time in the future to issue special common shares in exchange for all of the common shares of the cellular phone service unit, the filing said.

The Trustees of the Voting Trust of Telephone & Data Systems, which owns about 10.5% of the company's common stock, said in...

verizon wireless employees in areas bordering us cellular will still lie to customers about a takeover in the near future when talking to someone not living in their market.

i would say that us cellular is planing something big but not if they sell their markets to pay for a stadium.

funny, as I know who sent that 😉

anyhow, ya..they are looken to sell. only question now is when, and to who. why else would you make a move like that. and dont give me crap about how it has in the letter "there dont want to sell". i say the sooner the better.

its a good thing you are just speculating and dont know what you are talking about. but i guess when you have been hoping for a sale for so long now you cant deny its happening. good luck to you on that.

I am hoping that everyone reading these posts understand that TDS is our parent company right now. Also, I would like to point out that USCC is not going away anytime soon. Let me point out how much the company is putting into itself lately. As most are aware we have just included St Louis and expanded central and midwest plans to include more local area. AKA...a lot of money went into both. Also, we have just opened a sixth customer care center which has become operational. AKA...more money. So now answer me this...why would uscc put money into something only to sell it off, keeping in mind the company we are speaking of is already our parent company? So maybe the name would change...unlikly, but it would be the same company already...
