Oregon/Cali Sell Rumor.
Hey, I have heard a rumor circulating that USC is going to sell the Oregon/California/Washington Market to Verizon. As much as i would like this to happen so i no longer roam at my relatives house up on the Coast of Oregon where it is Verizon, I like USC and don't really want to change carriers. Please let me know if anyone has heard anything about this.

The rumor is more than just a rumor...try fact. They have been pulling resources out of that region for almost 9 months now. They will sell or trade these properties as soon as they have a ready and willing buyer. You can expect before the 2nd half of next year. They only want strategic properties adjacent to there core markets which are the central region and the Northeast. Look at where they bid on licenses in auction 58 if you have any doubts.

If they approach Verizon and if it's an area they want to provide service, then expect Verizon to acquire it. If any of the towers in that area are operating on TDMA digital, Verizon won't acquire those as US Cellular still has some customers on TDMA digital, and Verizon doesn't want to create any major disruption in service by converting to one digital to another like they did when they acquired Primeco many years ago. Chicago market was not a market that was converted to TDMA as the purchase of Ameritech Cellular forced the Chicago market to be sold and was later acquired by US Cellular. We only have CDMA out here. I am 99.9999 percent sure. It is a market consisiting of both rural and city areas. For example Medford and Roseburg are both inside this market. It just seems like it would be a good buy for Verizon to me, because they own the rest of Oregon that USC doesn't and the same with California.
