Motorola V262

Would the V262 be a good choice for a person who doesn't need all the extras? Or could someone recommend something else?

Thank You!

In our area (WI) we have customers who get excellent reception with that phone especially in rough areas. The only thing that I would be a little leery about is the charging port. The 6019i by Nokia is also a pretty reliable basic phone. Hope this helps. 🙂

I live in S.E. Wisconsin. I currently have Verizon but that contract expires in thirty days. I'm currently testing a U.S. Cellular V262. I not very impressed with it. The sound quality sounds muffled to me. What do you recommend for good reception and sound quality? I tried Verizon's LG 4750. It's not a pretty phone but it had great sound quality and a great speaker phone (speaker faces front). I don't need the the push to talk feature of U.S. Cellular's LG 4750.

Thanks.

its a good phone with good reception, the speaker or earpiece will go out in 3-6 months so make sure there is an in-store tech who can replace it, or it is a 6-8 week repair process to send it back to motorola or our Repair Center.

I don't know where you are getting your motorolas from, but motorola fixed that issue MONTHS ago.

all our motorolas are ordered directly from NDC, and there is not such thing as a fixed motorola.

True enough! I gave my daughter a Moto v262. It IS a grat little phone. about six months after she got the phone the ear piece did in fact go out. The US Cellular tech fixed it in less than five minutes. A month or so later the charging port got too loose to charge. The phone is currently out for repair.

Aside from that I still like the phone. I would highly recommend the Nokia 6019i if you really don't care if you get a flip phone or not. I have rarely had to send one of those phones out to repair.

i am the kind of person who does not want to deal with future problems like phone repairs, the fact that we send out more motorolas than every other phone combined makes me so wary that i would rather never sell one again.

I don't know why I have not seen the problems you are seeing. Ever since motorola corrected the problem I have had no one complain about the 262 or 266. I feel confident selling either of these phones over an LG that doesn't make calls in rural areas as well as a motorola can.

oh, in the worse parts of our region motorolas do pick up better than the lg's but only the ones with the stub antenna, not like the 4400 or the 5550 (which had a set of problems all its own.) It is just till this day, even if i factor in all 5550's, 3100's and avox 8500's motorolas get sent out for repair than every other manufacturer combined. I do not know if the 262 issues have been fixed because we have customers that got the phone 3 months ago that are having problems still but the 265 was a piece of crap, i need a little more time to see if the 266 is crap, even though 1 out of 10 of those stop turning on after a month. nothing can compare with the tragedy that is the v810 and v731, the 710 has problems of its own, and too many times...

I agree, I havent seen a 262/266 come back for months now. LG's are overrated pieces of crap, I've had three and the only one worth anything was the 6000, the vx10/6100 both sucked. Also about motorola repairs they are the best out of any manufacturer with turnaround time...we get our motos back in about 2 weeks or less.

We have more dang LG-5550's out for repair than ALL other phones COMBINED. I really liked that phone until it turned in to a lemon. At least 25% of the OTC's are failing within days as well. Will this nightmare ever end?

Hey Maine. Isn't it true that you sell more Motorolas than any other brand and would therefore expect to see more returns because of this?
Also, are alot of the returns due to the lousy ch...

all the 810's went out for charging ports, every other motorola had different problems 262/265's had earpiece/speaker problems 710's and 731's stop holding a charge for longer than 2 days of standby in 3-6 months when they were and should be 4, when that happened to my 731 motorola made it worse making it 1 day of standby, thats when i traded for a 5550, they are garbage, but mine was great.

And we sell more LG's than any other phone, motorolas would be tied with kyoceras, but actually for about a month kyoceras have been number 1

We sell way more Kyocera phones than anything else. Next in line would be Motorolas. When we launched the southern Maine market last year our featured phone was the LG-5550. We sold thousands of them.....which brings us to our predicament with that phone.

So I'm trying to decide if I can/should wait for the V323 or just go ahead and buy the Razr. Don't really like the Razr cuz it's TOO thin and easy to drop. But if the V323 and E815 are both a year away yet, maybe I'll take out a one year plan and pay $60 or $70 more up front. So, bottom line, what's your info on V323 and/or E815. Thanks.

The v323 is still in testing. At the moment I have no idea when it will be in Friendly User Testing.

The RAZR does not thrill me. My problem with it is that it has no ability to use Transflash and it is a digital only phone....not Tri-band, which is needed in rural Maine. I guess it really depends where you travel.

The E815 would be a better phone, IMHO, than the RAZR. I don't even see that this model is even in US Cellular testing at all.

I'd hold out for a while longer.

OK. The V323 IS in testing. That's what I needed to hear. I'll wait for it. Thanks.

Keep Motocrapola phones away from you if you have to beat them off with a stick, Joe. They suck in general. The v262 is pretty, but that's the only thing it's got goin for it. I've got one right now and for one, i'm not impressed with the sound quality from the earpiece. And my major beef with it, and all moto phones, is it sucks to use. The only phone i've ever used that had a worse User Interface was Audiovox. Stick with Nokia or LG and you should be safe.

Okay folks now I'm confused!! I went to the local USCC store to obtain plans and pricing. I asked his opinion on the best phone should I sign-up for the 1000 min. plan. He said stay away from LG phones. He never did say which of the phone USCC offers was the best buildt'phone for quality and reception he'd recommend. Sooooooooo, what phone should I get? I guess at this point price is not a problem.

Thanks Again!!

we only carry one LG phone for normal plans, the 6100, us cellular over-charges for it, it does not get reception as good as the motorolas but it is more reliable than any motorola. Just pick what one you like and spin the wheel.

Now that's what I call great customer service. "All our phones are crap sir...it really doesn't matter which one you get" Oh yeah, now that's quality. No wonder you hate to see your AAE, I can only imagine how frustated they are if this is the kind of advice you give your customers. geez

I don't spend quite as much time in these things as you do but you are the one who said...

"we only carry one LG phone for normal plans, the 6100, us cellular over-charges for it, it does not get reception as good as the motorolas but it is more reliable than any motorola. Just pick what one you like and spin the wheel."

I don't really see anything positive here about any phone. According to you spinning the wheel is how we need to choose. What do we need you guys for then?

One minute your are the expert the next you don't seem to know squat. Make up your mind do you or do you not know it all? Personally I think it is squat one.

Every one of our phones are great, except every Motorola and the Audiovox 8910. Nothing about the fact that U.S. Cellular over-charges for the 6100 is saying all of our phones are bad. I'm only here when things are slow, I post while at work and have nothing better to do for the most part. I find the Lounge entertaining and sometimes post in here.

This has got to be killing you with everyone buying the Razr lately.

A majority of people here with US Cellular, but I only sold 2, and I do not have problems with that. If it is a good phone, great, if it is not I don't even want to look at it. I just think Motorola hates US Cellular and intentionally makes them that bad for us. I do not hate Motorola for any reason besides the fact that I see 10 people a day with motorola problems that I cannot fix easily, I get that many people with LG's but they just have their phone in manner mode. I want the latest and greatest, the new Motorola "never breaks299" which has a new feature, that it doesn't break down in 6 months.

Actually, I went to a company owned US Cellular store and asked the sales man "Which phone gets the best reception?" His answer was "All of our phones have been tested and meet the specs."

Not very helpful.

If you looking for good reception I would stay away from the LG's...a Kyocera will get you better reception in more places. I think your orignal thought of the 262 is the best...it really is a good phone and Motorola has fixed the production problems. The phone that will get you the best reception is the Nokia 6019 (i'm not sure of the 6255, haven't had it long enough) other than that go with the 262.

🤭

I just picked up a V262 from US Cellular. last week (9 days ago). I'm not very impressed. I'm currently with Verizon and the signal in my area is poor so I'm testing US Cellular's signal. Seems to have much better coverage here (S.E. Wisconsin. I did try Verizon's version of the LG 4750. Not a very good looking phone but the speaker phone on it rocks. I wish US Cellular had the same version of the 4750. US Cellular's 4750 has a PTT feature that I'd probably never use.

I don't like the sound quality from the ear piece with the V262. Sounds muffled. And the speaker phone is nothing great.

So what do you recommend for a good reception US Cellular Phone.
